Deadline Dates for the 2011 USMLE Step 3 Applications and Supporting Documents

All applications for the USMLE Step 3 - 2011 application cycle must be received by September 2, 2011 at 5 pm Central Time. All supporting documents (i.e., Certification of Identity forms, post graduate training forms and board approvals from AL, ID, IL, KS, LA, MI, MS, NY) must be received not later than September 9, 2011 at 5 pm central time. Applicants for DC, MO and WI should immediately contact the state board to know that status of their Step 3 application.

I need to confirm something. When they say "USMLE Step 3 - 2011 application cycle", do they mean applying to take Step 3 in 2011 or applying in 2011 to take the Step 3 anytime next year?

The forums are kinda dead these days.. not sure why .. may be because it's summer or something. Anyway, here's an official reply from the FSMB:

August 18, 2011

Dear Dr.:

You would not be eligible for Step 3 until your ECFMG certificate has been officially issued. The 2012 application will be posted around the last week of September or first week of October, so you can still apply this year, just not on the 2011 application. You can have an eligibility as early as November 1, 2011 with the 2012 application.

Neither. It just means using the 2011 application form. 2012 form will be released at end of Sept or eraly Oct.
