You have to tell us details on what you have done so far. Only then we can pinpoint a defect in your prep and maybe able to guide you to improve.

Delay your exam for at least 2 months.
If you take the exam in your current shape, you will very likely fail.

Dont tell me i ll fail.. my prepn has been for 5 months now.. Have finished kaplan notes n videos. Finished UW last week completely, my avg score is 58 percent in UW. Today i took uwsa 1 and i scored 178 ...... Totally freaked out and randomly solved 3 blocks in UW, scored 65-66 percentin all (maybe coz i have solved them earlier... I really have no clue where i stand now!! btw, i didnt revise kaplan notes except for biochem n micro.. and my least scores have been from immunology and molecular biology.. so i spend extra hours for it everyday.
My exam in 2 weeks, i dont want to postpone.. What do i do?

Hmm .. may be you were too anxious when you took the UWSA?

How about you try UWSA 2 or NBME 7?

At this point, I wouldn't recommend NBME 7. I know its now what you want to hear, mle2resident, but the ultimate goal of this process is for you to get that residency right? So, what people are suggesting here is that for you to achieve your goals you have to make some changes.

My suggestions would be the following:

1) If you're only getting 65% even after doing UW once already, I'd recommend doing UW completely one more time.
2) If you didn't revise Kaplan, thats fine. Maybe do the videos for Immunology and FA for Micro.
3) Make sure you're fine with physio pharm and path.
4) A week from now, do NBME form 3 or 4 or uwsa 2- if you still are below about 190 I'd say there's a significant chance of not passing the exam and you've got to cover everything again. If you get get over 200, then thats a good start. Though a few more weeks of prep still wouldn't hurt :)

I know nobody likes to postpone - trust me though - this exam is a one time shot and you have to do the best you possibly can on it. Postponing even if it means losing a year and a lot of money doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things, but a bad score will make it really really hard to fulfill your dreams.

Planning to take nbme after 3 days.
Will take uwsa 2 based on the above result.

As I said, postponing or failing is not an option. I am focusing on figuring out the defect in my preparation and fix it with the best efforts I could.

I am here for guidance. Guide me what could be wrong in my preparation and how do I intensify my preparation?

What do I do from here?
Do I keep revising UW and FA? or should I just revise from kaplan notes?

Thanks

Thanks Ashish. Your reply is very helpful, clearly an aye opener. I shall take Nbme 3/4 in a week and will modify my plan accordingly.

Soundsgood, don't worry. Yes, the score is a disappointment but it's only one test. Make sure you make an informed decision after your review and of course, we're all here to help. You can PM me too if you have any questions :) Good luck!

Uwsa 2 : 200.. :(

hello again, after UWSA 1's extreme disappointment:eek:, past 3 days i have been revising UW questions, i revised around 800 questions from my weak areas.

I gave UWSA 2 today, i scored 200.. which is still disappointing but atleast i have figured out the problem is in my lack of revision. My question now is how many weeks do i postpone my exam to get a 99?

My plan ahead is to revise UW completely, and read FA and revise it. Then give NBME exam. Please give me suggestions to improve my preparation too!!

If you're going to just do UW and FA that 6 weeks or so should be enough, however, I'd recommend going back to basics on some of your weaker subjects again as well - take an additional few weeks or so and then use it to really cover physio, pharm, path, neuro and any other areas you feel you're weak at - this should be quick, not mroe than a few weeks. Maybe UW can be left till the final 6 weeks. Also maybe try a new qbank like consult near the end of your subscription for about a month - that will help you gauge how ready you are...

Hope that helps. Don't worry - this is an opportunity not a disappointment. It will make you stronger for the real exam and for the match.
