what is the maximum 3 digit score?so that one can aim for

we know that 99 is the maximum 2 digit score so what is it range in the term of the 3 digit score

i mean what is the least 3 digit score that can give you you 99 in the 2 digit score and also what is the maximum

another thing is the maximum 3 digit score=no of usmle step1 questions=322 i guess

and this mean it is the sum of how much questions you answer corrects
so that means each question give you one mark and thats what a 3 digit score is about

is there an official site where we can find this and know when there is an update?

thanks

According to this table, the maximum NBME score shown is 790. This correlates to 265. The least score correlating to 99 is 236. It's important to note that the 3-digit scoring changes all the time. So there may be variations in these numbers from time to time.

Nobody really knows how USMLE scores are calculated, but it's definitely not directly related to the number of questions you get right. Most opinions believe that it's a comparative scoring system. You are compared to people who got the same question. If only 10% of people got it right, it's a difficult question, and by getting it right, your score will rise considerably. If you only get questions that like 90% of people get right, your score will be average.

So the point is, to get a higher score you have to get a lot of those difficult questions right. It's not enough to get a lot of questions right, but it's more important to not miss difficult questions as well.
