I guess its the para-neoplastic syndrome of HCC and RCC, both tumors can secrete Erythropoietin and therefore polycythemia - an eg for secondary polycythemia, ectopic EPO secretion

are you sure?
because i have read Polycythemia vera is the clonal expansion of myeloid stem cells due to JAK 2 mutations on chromosome -9 with increased counts across all cell lines meaning, erythrocytes, platelets, granulocytes. EPO is characteristically low in Polycythemia vera

where as HCC and RCC are ectopic EPO producers leading to high serum EPO levels therefore causing only erythrocytosis and absolute polycythemia

my mistake!

Yes u r right, i made a mistake, as this was written in FA chart of POLYCYTHEMIA
now i checked from goljan and i m correcting it

Inappropriate absolute polycythemia: ectopic EPO production
No hypoxic stimilus for EPO release
• etopic release of EPO from renal cell carcinoma
Increased RBC count. RBC mass. EPO
Normal PV and SaO2
