I hate to be nit-picky, but I must say a pet peeve of mine is when folks write using text message format or made up words, i.e. words such as "ur", "udr" "wanna" whadya" and all the other variations on words. This isn't meant to be rude to anyone, but to be honest, most of the times I won't even bother to read posts like that. I really believe this forum is somewhat of a professional environment where folks get help from colleagues, and at this point we should be trying to communicate as such. I'm not saying that everything needs to be grammatically correct and I'm sure I've abbreviated at times, but I just think we can at least try...

I completely agree with you.

Members should try to avoid abbreviations such (d) for (the) and (dath) for (that) and (wanna) for (want to) and (gonna) for (going to) and (gimme) for (give me) and many many other non-professional communications.

We also urge members not start the post with words such as (hey guys) or (hey).

We also prefer members not to use UPPER CASE when emphesizing on something because UPPER CASE text means "shouting"

For your information (note that I did not use FYI here ), USMLE Forums staff are always editing posts and correcting their spelling and grammar and also replacing non-professional terms with the appropriate ones.

We've also updated our Forum Rules to reflect these standards.

Yeah I totally agree. Ruining the language is something thats on the rise these days and needs to be highly discouraged.
