EpiStats
Hey everyone, I would like to tell you about an app that I helped make for the epidemiology and biostatistics portion of the USMLE. It features a free biostats calculator with 25 different equations, a variety of flashcards, and three quick info tables. Our calculator makes use of a two by two sample table with highlighted boxes so that you know exactly what information is necessary in order to make the calculation. We are constantly making improvements to the app and we have some great ideas that we hope to implement in the near future. If you've seen my youtube lecture comparing sensitivity with specificity, then you might get an idea of what we have planned. The app is currently only available on android, but we will be bringing it to iOS as soon as possible. If you are interested and would like to provide us with some feedback, check it out in the google play store... Link to google play store for EpiStats application ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Come check out our EpiStats app for some free questions! the qbank poses each question in a variety of different ways with the help of randomly generated numerical values - that way you won't see the exact same question twice.
the app is still a work in progress, but we will continue to improve the interface and add new features along the way. we would love to hear your thoughts and would appreciate any recommendations that you have. our goal is to make biostats somewhat easier to learn with the aid of video lectures (found here... EpiStats: Epidemiolgy and Biostatistics), flashcards (found here... EpiStats ), and so much more. Good luck with your studies! and we hope to make this difficult subject at least a little bit easier to learn! EpiStats App ![]() ![]() ![]() EpiStats YouTube Lectures ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

i guess i should add that in addition to being completely free... there aren't any annoying adds. i personally cant stand adds... the youtube channel is also devoid of them.
The app and the youtube lectures are based on notes that I put together during medical school. After graduation I was asked if I wanted to make an app based on the notes and it just seemed like a great opportunity to share the information. You can find the app by searching EpiStats in google play, or by clicking on here.

example question from the EpiStats qbank.....
Brian Lee presents to the clinic with recurrent epigastric pain that occurs about two hours after eating. He attributes the pain to the stress associated with going to high school. After obtaining the relevant information from the history and physical examination, Dr. Turner suspects a helicobacter pylori infection and counsels her patient that ordering a stool antigen assay would be appropriate. Mr. Lee gives consent, but admits that he is a little confused about something. What he would like to know is why people sometimes sat that a negative test is a good thing. Dr. Turn explains that if an investigation is very sensitive, then a negative test simply means that the patient probably does not have the condition. In a hypothetical study, 252 out of 304 positive tests and 322 out of 368 negative tests were correct. Based on this information, what proportion of people with a helicobacter pylori infection would Dr. Turner tell her patient are correctly identified by the test? A. 322/374 B. 252/304 C. 46/298 D. 252/298

We've updated the app to improve functionality and to include all the video lectures from the EpiStats youtube channel. It is still completely free. Check out in the google play store and let us know what you think. All suggestions are appreciated.
