Free USMLE Pathology Course

Pathologist and professor John Minarcik, MD (www.medicalschoolpathology.com) is offering a FREE real-time online course in medical school pathology from September to May, academic year 2010-2011, to any medical student who wants to excel in pathology and dominate USMLE Step 1. The course, taught in English, will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to noon, Eastern.

This free course features:

1) Live, interactive video lectures. (You can ask questions!)
2) Microscopy sessions, during which we will view Dr. Minarcik's microscope in a one-on-one format.
3) 500 independent study work exercises that you will have the entire year to complete, individually or in groups.

John R. Minarcik, MD is an American physician, board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He received his MD at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed residencies in pathology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was in the private practice of pathology until 2002, then began teaching pathology at US and Caribbean medical schools and online. He is the author of over 750 medical student educational videos in histopathology (Shotgun Series), which have been viewed over 5 million times by over 6000 medical student subscribers.

Thank you for the nice collection but I checked the website and histology videos cannot be played by either Windows Media Player nor Real Player. Any idea how to play them?

Which video did you try viewing? I will try and figure it out.

Some of the videos are actually compressed files that need to be "unzipped."
Most of the videos are in .wmv format which is viewable on Windows Media.

The story of how he lost is license is pretty wild; makes me a little nervous about my own career. Always dot your 'I's.

And, yes, his videos rock! He is an extraordinary teacher.

I just downloaded and played the Acute appendicitis2.wmv video as well as the Adrenal--Atrophy.wmv video. Both videos played without a problem and without needing to be unzipped. I would suggest upgrading your Windows Media Player and try again.

Dr. John Minarcik created all of these videos, and www.medicalschoolpathology is his website, not mine. He creates and posts these lectures and histology studies as a free public service. Why does he do it? I think he feels it's a worthwhile contribution to society. I agree, and that's why I am helping him promote the live class I mentioned in the original post.

I hope that some of these resources can be helpful to you in your studies; that's what they were made for Let me know if you have more issues after upgrading Windows Media Player.

I honestly wish I'd seen these when I was in medschool. It would have made studying so much easier. I'll see if I can watch some of the more high yield topic videos before the Step1 just to wrap my head around them.

But, still I don't get it.
Because in your YouTube Channel you mentioned that these videos are for Martin Swerdlow not John Minarcik and also if he's the author of the website then why not he's mentioning his name as the author

John Minarcik is the creator of all videos on the youtube channel, WashingtonDeceit, as well as the videos on his website, www.medicalschoolpathology.com. And he is the lecturer for the live class that starts Sept. 7th. He did it all. He is doing all of this work in honor of his hero, Martin Swerdlow.

I am Dr. Minarcik's assistant. I volunteer because I believe in his mission: to teach the world pathology for free, especially for the benefit of students in lower socioeconomic strata.
