ECHO a new service from ECFMG
by StepTaker 06-13-2012, 06:29 AM

The ECFMG recently announced a new venue, it's called ECHO. No, that's not an echocardiogram, it stands for ECFMG Certificate Holders Office!

The idea is to connect ECFMG certified IMGs together, something like the AMA for IMGs only.

The weblink is here

This is supposed to provide services such as educational resources for IMGs, newsletters, feedback, and surveys. For example, this month's survey is asking what data the IMGs want to know about currently enrolled IMGs in US health care training system (AKA US GME).

Such data can be very useful. Like if we know who got matched in 2012, we will then know how to prepare and how to match in 2013.

The service might expand in the future to include some sort of listserve and online community for IMGs to connect with each other to make the admission into the US GME a more transparent and more informative decisions for IMGs coming from different International countries.
