Step 3; No More State Medical Board Sponsorship
by StepTaker 12-21-2013, 08:39 AM
Previously we had to apply through State Medical Boards in order to be eligible for the Step 3 Exam. For example see this thread here http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-st...residency.html which mentions which State allow you take Step 3 exam before starting residency training.
The USMLE review committee has decided that this no longer required and you now apply to Step 3 without State Medical Board Sponsorship, the official announcement link is here http://www.usmle.org/announcements/?ContentId=124 The changes will take effect in August 2014. This will make applying for the Step 3 exam much easier than before and also means that training requirement is not as strict as before but the USMLE still recommends that you do your Step 3 during residency and before you finish your first year of residency. - |
