Default stroke volume in arteriosclerosis

Hi, i have a question which is confusing me and would really like some help with it. we know that pulse pressure in old age/arteriosclerosis increases because of low capacitance. but what happens to stroke volume? does it decrease? because using the volume-pressure loop if afterload is more (as in arteriosclerosis), stroke volume is less, isnt it so? so the statement in BRS that "stroke volume is the most important determinant of pulse pressure" still valid in this case(arteriosclerosis)?
