Smile Score 238. Second attempt

9 months ago I received the devastating news that I didn’t pass and after 2 weeks of depression I could make a new plan and I completed it.
I used only Kaplan this time: Kaplan Step 1 lecture notes and videos, Kaplan Step 1 qbank and even liveprep because I needed a boost of confident after that failure. I worked also with First Aid adding my own notes.
I think there is a large amount of resources and each one of us has the duty to select what work best according the own necessities.
I found really helpful those post with the stats because they gave me more than a glance of what I could expect on the real thing.

My stats:
05/31/2011 Kaplan Diagnostic test Qbank 66%
April-July 2011 100% completed Kaplan Qbank 67%
07/01/2011 Columbia 7-hour Simulated test v2 74%
07/05/2011 Kaplan diagnostic pre live lectures 69%
August 2011 Kaplan livePrep Assessments mean 75%
08/29/2011 Kaplan 7-hour Simulated from livePrep 75%
09/02/2011 NBME form 3 440/207
09/27/2011 NBME form 6 390/196
10/02/2011 Kaplan 7-hour simulated from Qbank 66%
10/14/2011 Columbia 7-hour Simulated test v1 69.5%
10/19/2011 NBME form 7 530/228
10/02/2011 USMLE simulated 90%

I took step 1 on November 9 and I received my score today. I hope I can motivate at least someone there who had a failure before. If I could do it you can also do it!

Thumbs Up congrats

This is real good post. if you are getting good marks after failing once, this is someone we should learn from. cause if someone is already getting good marks no use for others to see what to do to improve score. whereas here we can see changes done to improve the score. keep it up and good luck for future steps and residency search.

Hello, first congratz for your score... Awesome...

Now, my situation is pretty same with you. I took 2nd attempt, after almost 10 months prep, but i am still waiting for the result.

I just wanna ask you a question. How did you feel after finishing exam?
Mine, i felt free for just a couple hours after exam, but then i checked the qs that i still remembered, maybe about 10 qs were wrong, the others i forgot. Now i am worried.. i hope i can pass the exam like u did..
My nbme 11,12,7 were 228,217,205.. Nbme 7 worried me... Usmle practice > 85%..

Did you feel the same lke i felt?

Thanks jopau777,
I forgot add it to my post, I also did nbme 12 five days before my exam, the score 226, a little lower than nbme 7.
After I finished my test I felt just better than the first time. I knew that I did it right this time not only because I was pretty confident with my preparation but because I remember that during my first attempt the entire 4th block and several questions in the others were about unknown content to me!, I did not have any idea of what they were asking!
This time every single question were about something that I read at least once before, even when several times I wasn't sure with my answers. After the exam I remembered less questions than you did some right some others wrong, then I felt anxious because I couldn't remember more and during the following 3 weeks I dreamt twice that someone told me I didn't pass and my anxiety increased.
You can see it is normal how you feel. Everybody is anxious after that.
Just feel good and proud of yourself because you worked hard and had the courage of take it again.
