What is the function of lateral horn of the spinal cord?
If there is LMN signs and symptoms ,is there any action of lateral horn in this?or just the anterior horn?

What is the function of lateral horn of the spinal cord?

ANSWER: Lateral horns are located in the thoracic AND lumbar (thoracolumbar) regions of the spinal cord (segments T1-L2, L3) and they contain visceral motor cell bodies. This region (thoracolumbar) is the location for the sympathetic nervous system.

If there is LMN signs and symptoms ,is there any action of lateral horn in this?or just the anterior horn?

ANSWER: LMNs are located in the ventral areas (anterior horns) of the spinal cord. Therefore, LMN lesions will spare (i.e. will not affect) the lateral horn and vice versa. Lesions in the anterior horns (e.g. due to polio)--> LMN signs & symptoms (hypotonia, flaccid paralysis, hyporeflexia, e.t.c.).

What is the ratio of AST and ALT in acetaminophen toxicity?

ANSWER: Acetaminophen toxicity is one of the numerous causes of abnormal liver function tests. Elevation of liver enzymes (ALT or AST) levels >1000 IU/L is the standard definition of acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity.
