Spina bifida with myeloschisis is going to have elevated AChE. All of the spina bifidas except for occulta are going to have increased alpha feto protein (seen in any body wall defect). Anencephaly is also going to present with increased AChE but you will also find polyhydramnios which is increased amniotic fluid volume due to diminished swallowing reflex I believe. Polyhydramnios is how you differentiate spina bifida with myloschisis and anencephaly. Dang, those are some big words lol. |
