I am reviewing all of the material in First Aid and really seem to be struggling with the early Biochem - particularly metabolism. Given the fact that the Biochem exam in my first year was my lowest medical school exam score, I suppose this is not entirely surprising. When it comes to Biochem, for some reason, I really feel as though I need someone to be able to explain the pathways to me first before I can grasp it and reiterate it on my own. I struggle to see past the mere detail and understand it conceptually.
Does anyone know of any good resources for learning Biochem? My friend once showed me a video of a man by the name of Sam Turco reviewing Biochem pathways: that is precisely the type of thing I am looking for, although after furiously searching online, I don't know how to access his material or lectures (if anyone does, PLEASE let me know). In the meantime, I have been scouring youtube for explanations here and there but they are a crapshoot at best. It is also time consuming to find videos that cover the target material in the right depth. Please help me if you can. |

Indeed I did - they're great except they seem to be missing the exact material I struggle with, which is metabolism. Does anyone know where I can find a complete set of his teaching, or the rest of the videos, or something - even if they're lecture format?

Can anyone else weigh in on this comparison? As I said, my main area of weakness seems to be all things metabolism-related. The Turco videos are so good - I just wish I could see him teach the material I really need help with!

Kaplan videos from 2010 had videos covering metabolism so why are you complaining I don't know?

I just received my step 1 results.
I too recommend going with Turco's lectures (you should find him in classroom anywhere lectures of kaplan). He's a very good teacher. Try to find 2010 class not the most recent which is 2014. He was much more enthusiastic in 2010. |
