Are they worth watching? 2010 or 2014 edition? Or can I just skip them altogether.
If I skip them, what would be a good alternative? I've read KLN micro and doing FA too but still don't really have a good grasp of this subject.
Thanks in advance

Micro is really a crammable subject, therefore, microcards may be of some help. I don't think videos will help you, since there is not much to explain, way more to cram. Also, you might want to check CMMRS (i've never used it, but others said it's a pretty nice book).

Thanks for your reply quackymcq.
I do have CMMRS, used a bit of it back in med school but I don't think it's much relevant to step 1 so I'm not using it this time.
Microcards, that sounds like a good idea. Will go for it. Thanks

micro section +uworld cover almost 90% of what i was asked in the exam

the problem isn't in the resources , but how to cram micro , for me I used flash cards and they helped but i would do micro section one day before an nbme or the real deal as its easily forgettable

What I did for micro (I didn't take step 1 yet) is skip the bacteriology Kaplan videos, instead I watched Sketchy micro, I still can't believe how helpful it is.

Kaplan vids are ok for virology, but the most important thing is organize your mind with the classifications (RNA, DNA, enveloped or not, stucture, etc.).

For parasitology and mycology I didn't find the videos useful, but the sections are short, so, again, organization for classifications.

And for the pharm part, watching DIT really helped.

Guess that's it. I hope that was helpful!

Thanks HighDefinition & WinterIsComing for the advices.
Consensus are that I will skip kaplan videos except maybe for virology. I'm already doing RX with FA. Will look into sketchy micro or DIT. CMMRS isn't really my type of a book, tried it back in med school a bit. I guess I'm more of a visual learner. Kaplan videos helped in most of the other subjects. Micro knowledge all that's given in FA & Kaplan, I find it sufficient. Just need something to put it cold in my brain in a clinical oriented way that I can remember.
Thanks all
