Kaplan Qbank - use High yield mode only?

For those of you that used kaplan qbank. Did you find High Yield mode the most useful in terms of testing the major concepts? Or did you find that there are a lot of testable points left out just because their considered medium yield?


I want to avoid cramming minor useless facts into my head, but don't want to miss too many testable points so I'm having a bit of a dilemna.

On HY mode I seem to recall seeing everything and don't see anything out of the blue. I'm actually scoring pretty decently on it. When I switch to normal I get all these questions that totally go over my head and then I get confused as to whether I should annotate into FA or make some notes on them, or if I should just forget it and keep trucking ahead.

For most topics I can filter questions using what's in FA, but for stuff like Anatomy FA barely touches the topic and I find a lottttt of stuff in the qbank not in FA when using normal mode and still a decent amount using HY mode.

yep, its aprox 65% of the qbank, the High yields.... i used that only, then i went to UW... i found Kaplans qbank harder than UW by the way.

just do Kaplan high yield then do uworld 2 times if u can.u r right kaplan has too much low yield info.stick with high yield for sure .

what i mean is, spend most of your time with uworld ,its gold absolutely gold .

i did not know it has to be done in high yield mode
but definitely it is tougher than uworld
i am just scoring between 50 to 60 percent
dont know whether this much is below average
please tell me about high yield kaplan is it something
different and do i now spend more money paying for it?

I did that before UW.

I liked it.

It was pretty much crucial.

It was encouraging: I started with cummulative 48% and finished with 65%. Because I have learned a lot from it and they asked the same concept about 2-3 times, so you can actually learn and practice again and again.

How many is there? 800-1200 HY questions? Yes, I'd recomend doing HY only if you are short on time. (Do of course - Random, unused, timed)

There's about 1500-1600 questions in HY mode.

I feel like in HY mode, every question is something you would expect.
I'm surprisingly scoring between 70-80% on each block in HY mode (I've only done a couple though, just started).

However when I do the low yield questions my score drops pretty quick because a lot of questions show up that I'm totally clueless about and have no idea what the topic is even about.

When your in the qbank, click on the option that allows you to select high yield questions only.

My plan I guess is to do the HY questions properly and study the answer explanations and after the HY, do the leftover LY questions quickly and if the questions about a topic I studied I'll re-inforce it and if the questions some random crap, I'll guess the answer and move on without paying too much attention to it.

I was also confused about what I should do with the Kaplan Qbank I got... Now I should focus on the highyield and then go to LY if I have time...
