Broca's and Wernicke's Areas
Understanding written n spoken language is a function of Broca s or Wernike s areas??just some confusion.........

Broca (in Spanish) is part used in an electric drill, hence is motor language area, while Wernicke is related to Wenicke's dementia (vit B1 deficiency), hence comprehension language area.

Here's an easier way to remember them

Broca's area lesion leads to "broken speech" so it's motor
Then the other is sensory of course ;)

broca's - broken speech but good comprehension,pt ve insight to their problem n r frustrated (frontal-inf)

wernik's -wordy, but make sno UNaware of his problem.(temp-sup)

actually understanding written language is part of angular gyrus (hence alexia when lesioned) NOT wernicke's. wernicke's is just for understanding spoken language.
