Default Psychological aspect of STEP

Hello sweet people.
I need your thoughts
when I decided to study for Step
I had reasonal doubts about this whole thing.
The main is -is it really worth it? We sacrifice so much, our youth ,time on something that maybe won't even be that great as we thought it would be.
Am I the only one thinking about this?
Is there anyone who made it all the way through the residence to assure that it is actually worth it and it's not a pipe dream.

I think the reward at the end of it definitely makes it worth all the trouble. But so far, I'm extremely nervous for my step 1 score. Made too many silly mistakes. I would go through it all over again just for the end goal of residency. But unfortunately, most programs only look at your first attempt :/
