Warning! crescendo and decrescendo murmurs

Hello everyone,

can somebody please explain to me the differences between crescendo and decrescendo heart murmurs and why each of them sounds the way it is (the mechanism) and if you could enrich with some examples that would be great,

btw I'm studying cardiovascular pathology and those topics are not covered in detail.

pls answer, i could find nothing specific in google...

thank you

the best example of this is aortic stenosis

look at the PV loop for the left ventricle for an example. notice how the pressure keeps rising though sytole. when systole happens and the aortic value opens up there is x amount of pressure, but as the LV squeezes harder it pushes more blood through faster (up until a point) where it decreases.

thus you get a crescendo, descresendo
