My application to USMLE for a scheduling permit for Step 1 was late b/c some information was missing (yikes). The completed application has been in USMLE hands for over two weeks. However, it's now April 17 and I planned to take Step 1 by mid-May, as clerkships begin then. Do you think I can do it?
1. How long does the USMLE application process take and do you have any suggestions on how to expedite the process? 2. How hard will it be to schedule an last minute appointment at a Prometric Center? There are a number of centers in my area and I am resigned to travel if necessary. Thanks so much for your help! ![]() |

The same thing happened with my application

Thanks for the info.
Does anyone know how long it takes for Prometric to get notification that you have a scheduling permit, so you can schedule an appointment? Could you hypothetically make an appointment one day and take the test the following day (assuming availability). Finally, do you recommend taking the "test drive" at Prometic Center in advance of taking the test? |
