Default Clinical elective

Hello , i will be giving my step 1 this august-september. Will get my result by sept-october. Will it be safe to apply for clinical electives during november to march/april ?
I am worried coz most institutes require applications 6 months in prior.
Also , i will be a graduate in 2018 april.
Can someone help ?

Yes, They expect you to apply at least 6m advance. 8m for Mt Sinai etc.
But there are universities that accept 4/5 months advance also. Please look at Individual Univ website for more info.
