Lungs Surfactant production?

Hi there,
I was going over Kaplan LN and came across what seems to be a contradiction. In their anatomy section, they state that a fetus will survive if born after 25-28th week of gestation as pneumocyte type I and II are synthesize and hence surfactant synthesis is possible and then in their histo section, they say that surfactant production starts in the 35th week of gestation. I know 35th sounds right but not sure if maybe I've misunderstood something?

Any input is much appreciated!

Between 28-34wks,at 35 weeks its completely normal.

If you remember in med school, women with premature rupture of membrane are admitted and managed till 34wks to allow lung maturity after which they might have induction of labor
with God,nothing is impossible...PREMATCHED!!!
