I am an old fmg and a mom and sole care taker of my child i plan on part time daycare which is what we can afford right now this give me 4 hours at least and at the end of the day i have energy after putting her down for 2 hours of study a maximum of 6 hours a day for 6 to 7 months would that be enough to scsore in the 90's for usmle step 1 or do i need 10 hours plus?:toosad: What is my prognosis?

I appreciate any advice i can get from this forum.

6 hours a day will be good amount of time for you to study for the exam.

All you need is constant motivation and right set of books.

I am attaching below links which might help you plan a bit better your studies. :)

Thank you so much for the reply donofitaly. This is very encouraging i do have resources listed from both methods. I am also wondering about the Taus method. Would it help if i adapted it to my study plan? Also does anyone have a sample 6/7 month 6/8 hour study plan that worked for them?

Yes, any plan will work as long as you have it clear and result oriented and you work on it as you planned. Of course as you go along, you will realize some problems, some advantages with your plan and then you can tweak around it. I can suggest you reading some of past success stories for Step 1 and maybe that may guide you better :

I am trying to look for a timetable that suits your needs, i will surely post it if i find something good. :)

Thank you for your kind words. I wish you success as well. If you want, i can copy paste a motivational letter written by one lady who was almost in a similar situation like that of yours, maybe that will help you as well. I read it time to time when i start wavering in my studies. :p
