Neuro Lt hemisphere dominant or Rt ??

when in Q it is given that person is Rt handed we r sure that person is having Lt dominant hemisphere.....but wt if its given that person is Lt handed....should we assume that he is having rt dominant hemisphere??
kaplan says... "even Lt handed individuals are generally Lt hemisphere dominant"
pls reply.....

Smile You know Left handed are called "SOUTHPAW" or "goofy" in USA.

Kaplan has given wrongly.......................Left handed person always would be Right hemisphere dominant as the fibers crosses in opposite direction at the level of medulla.Always person having opposite hemisphere dominant.As you know, testosterone plays major role before birth in deciding Left handedness.Although Mainly the "Language"IS CONTROLLED BY LEFT HEMISPHERE, EVEN IN LEFT HANDED PERSON...........BUT THE DOMINANCE WOULD BE IN THEM RIGHT HEMISPHERE ONLY.

95% of people are Left Dominant Hemisphere, no matter if they are right or left handed.

Can someone post an actual source please? I've also heard that even among left handed people they're mostly left hemisphere dominant but I'd like to know if I'm wrong too...

well i'll go with kaplan only....they have specifically mentioned...
"on USMLE always think lt dominant hemisphere..unless it is specified"

Arrow Left handed people have left hemisphere dominance

  • 95% of right-handed people have left-hemisphere dominance for language.
  • >55% of the left-handed people have left-hemisphere dominance.
  • 18.8% of left-handed people have right-hemisphere dominance for language function.
  • 19.8% of the left-handed people have bilateral language functions.
