Question Preparing with only First Aid and USMLE world ?

For IMG, who is 4 years away from basic science, will be going through FA more than once, USMLE world all question with explanations more than once.

Only that.

How much you expect the score will be?

Thank you.

Hi one11, I don't know if you're asking due to my exam experience or just randomly but I can try to answer. You need to ask yourself a few questions:
1. What have you done since you studied basic science?
2. Was the medical school you attended considered a good one? Did you feel they covered basic science at the time thoroughly?
3. Were you a good student?
3. If you have any friends that are doing the same - how did they do?
For me - 1- got clinical experience, 2- know that my school is very good, very research oriented (meaning they want more students to go into MD/PhD programs and therefore a lot of emphasis is put on basic science) it is also considered a difficult med school. 3 - yes I was a good student. Definitely not the best but finished the first 3 years with a good average. 4 - a few of my friends took the exam 1 year after basic science and studied for 2.5 months from FA and uw alone and they did very well. Another friend of mine did it 4 years after basic science and studied for one month from UW alone! For about 1 month. Now he had courage! But I know he didn't score so well but still passed, he also had a newborn a the time and a 2 year old baby at home.

It all depends on you and how much you already know. If you know all your core principle well, then yes, UWorld and FA are enough to do well. First Aid takes care of most of the stuff you will see on the exam and UWorld covers the outliers that FA misses plus gives you some great explanations. But I must reiterate, they are REVIEW MATERIAL. What that means is if you dont know the underlying concept they are useless. Try giving someone who just started med school FA and UWorld and you will see that they have no clue what going on. That's how you will feel if your core is weak.

My suggestion? Do Uworld and FA, and if at any moment you reach an area you dont understand, even after reading the UWorld explanation, I highly suggest you open a text book, or Kaplan videos/notes and go over that topic.
