1-ACTH has receptor on zona glomeruloza or dose not?
2-do you expect hyperplasia of this zone in CAH diseases?
3-if ACTH does not have receptor on zona glomeruloza then how the aldosteron synthetis process starts? how cholesterol starts converting to pregnenolone and so on?:notsure:
Angiotensin II upregulates CYP11A1 (desmolase) expression in z.g. cells. CYP11A1 is upregulated by ACTH and LH in other cells.
Glomerulosa cells generate steroid with stimulation by angiotensin II (AII) and potassium, while cells in the other cortical layers are under the control of adrenocorticotropin (ACTH). While the key hormone receptors change between layers, the transition is not abrupt-the zona glomerulosa does possess receptors for ACTH while the fasciculata exhibits sensitivity to AII, though not potassium.
@mondoshawan; "the zona glomerulosa does possess receptors for ACTH while the fasciculata exhibits sensitivity to AII, though not potassium. " i do not get it!z.g has ACTH RECEPTOR?
They're just saying that you don't cross the street and go from one neighbourhood to another - that there is a little overlap in the middle. For the boards, we can assume that there are no ACTH receptors in the zona glomerulosa, per FA and BRS.
