I have just started my preparations, started kaplan lecture notes.I want to give step1 as soon as possible and want to take high sores. above 90, so how much time it will require? Can we get above 90 score by studying 2 to 3 months?

Since you have not specified in your profile your graduation freshness then it would be difficult to give you an advice.
Generally a sound step 1 preparation takes over 6 months of full time study plan for graduates and even more for old graduates. While for medical students it may require significantly less amount of time as the information is still fresh in the case of current medical students. You may also want to have a look at our poll here http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-st...-step-1-a.html |

two or three months will not be enough to get you over 90. Even if you are a medical student currently
Finish you lecture notes, do qbook, read notes again, do FA, do UW, do qbank, review notes again, do NBME, then take the exam. If you don't follow these steps you WON'T get over 90. |

I'd agree with healthyusmle plan
It is almost impossible to cover the vast material of step 1 in a matter of two to three months. You either give up your 90+ target or give up your limited time frame and give yourself at least 5 to 6 months of full-time preparation. |

If you make 12 hours per day that would be excellent, take one day per week off.

There is a poll on some university web site (sorry forgot the link) which shows how long their students studied for and what score did they obtain I would encourage you to prepare for 6 months and do 12 hours per day and 6 hrs sleep but do not change your exam date during that period of time and push it further and further.

![]() Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening it deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!!!!!! Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow". You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success !!! To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade. To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby. To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper. To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet. To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train. To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident. To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics. Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time. Remember that time waits for no one. |
