Kidney Adult Polycystic Kidney Disease

In Kaplan lecture notes
Associations of APKD are listed:

Hepatic cysts
Berry aneurysm
Mitral valve prolapse
Colonic diverticula

I can't memorize these unrelated counter-intuitive conditions can you come up with any mnemonic for them?

Hepatic cysts are easily remembered because they are cysts just like APKD and for more information see this post about Caroli Syndrome

For all of the others
They are all outpouchings!
Think of it
  • Isn't berry aneurysm an outpouch of the intima and adventitia
  • Isn't colonic diveriticula an outpouch of mucosa and submucosa through the muscularis propria
  • Isn't mitral valve prolapse just an "outpouching" of the valvle out of it's ventricular room
