Hey congrats. And you didn't use KLN right? So is MTB + UWorld enough for a 250+?

Yeah, I definitely think so. If you read my experience you'll see that the exam was crazy weird for me. Step 1 helps alot but most of all I think the scoring curve is really lenient on step 2 CK.

Hi there! my exam is on dec 17 and i am very confused coz i scored terrible on nbme 4 last night. I think the pathophysiology and mechanism of the diseases are killing me. Could u plz share your exam experience about how much is expected of that stuff on step 2. And whatever you think is significant .. Thanks

Hey there! Good luck guys, my exam is also on the 18th of December I'm so confused, my NBME form 7 (the new one) was tough and I scored 170, I'm re-doing uworld I finished it once before but I'm always scoring in the 60's sometimes less, I'm working full time so I feel maybe my focus isn't great, I've read mtb twice and Kaplan videos and Goljan and now I'm so anxious and feel I bit more than I can chew... Help any advice?

I wouldn't put too much stock in the nmbes. I only got 235 and I had studied a good 95% of what I saw in the exam by the time I did nmbe 4. I wasted 3 months needlessly. Do USWA, that gives you a way more accurate idea of what you'll score. If you did well in step 1 I'm pretty sure you'll do well in step 2ck. I wrote an exam experience. Read that, it might help you.

Actually, i didnt take step 1. Prepared from uworld and whatever pathophysio and mechanisms i know comes from only one source and that is uworld!!

do you think there are certain high yield topics that can help me for that

It's hard to say since the question pool is so vast. I got ALOT on respiratory pathology. I think you should study basics from first aid for step 1 and goljan. Stuff like how air trapping occurs in emphysema etc.

do you have a rough idea how much of the exam is based on that kind of knowledge?

It's hard to say. I got at at least 10 questions. Others have got none. You need to be prepared for anything. I totally bombed obs gyn. It's weird since I did my internship in obs and gyn and am super confident in it. So supplement whatever you're reading with antenatal USS etc.

sounds like the exam is very unpredictable! I thought that internal medicine is always going to be the core!!
I found many many questions about the mechanisms on nbme 4. That totally shattered my confidence:scared:

Hi! My exam is a day before yours. So after doing nbme 7, were you able to recognize your weaknesses? do you think there were uworld kind of questions on nbme 7?

Bah28 11-26-2014 09:28 AM

No no it's different , I didn't know my weaknesses since there was no review. :(

I am going thru the uworld again especially internal med. I took my nbme without having a review for gyn/obs so I plan to do it really well now coz i think that was the most heavily tested thing after internal med. I feel nbme 4 had too many patho/physio questions, I am concentrating on them now while doing uworld.
