Is it really we want 265?

Hi,

I heard from other forum that 265 is needed for all steps? is that true?
and NOC is needed for J1 visa?
Can anyone who recently joined residency please clarify this?

No. That's not correct.

You need at least 280 in Step 1 and Step 2 CK and pass CS with high performances and you also need 2 years US Clinical Experience and after all that you will get only one interview and you have to compete with 1310132 IMGs for that one seat

Its not like that.....265 is very high score....u can make it ur target but if u score less than it , u still can get into residency......there is nothing like lowest score to get residency but u definitely need above 230 to get into some good residencies.......thats what I know......

iam very new to usmle and seeing other forums am really confused about the scores and j1 visa.
iam confused whether to study for USMLE or for my state exams.
can anyone of u guys tell me clearly about NOC for j1 visa????????????????????????
u guys r in a confused state and dont know wat to do and u r all kidding me.......really pity on u

hi ,i have confirmed this news from seniors of mine getting into residency this year,,that they dont require any bond signing for j1 visa.....but from next year i.e. 2013...for j1 visa u need to sign abond with indian government that after completion of ur studies u have to come back and work in india for 5 years only after that ur free to go anywhere for working.........:rol leyes:..........thanks to our health minister....and government..,...and some students of premier indian colleges who study in country for free then when time comes for payback they flee the country........and ..those who have paid for their education in india or abroad have to suffer as they are also included in this matter..........but strive for h1 if possible........and yes no financial escape in this bond.........abt scores i.e >265...i can tell only that my seniors with scores 225,,234,238,240..........etc got in decent residencies.......feel free to ask

check out this link says not 5 years its 2 years and there is possibility of waiving the bond too,,,hopes hopes

As far as i know,the rule is yet to be finalized. may be some time in future it might happen...there are lots of ifs and buts..if they want us to work for 5 yrs after our training first they need to recognise USA degree..The process started by forming a committee in 2006 or 2008(doesnot remember exactly) by our Govt. to recognise post graduate training of 10-12 countries(US,UK,Aust/Newzealand,Germany france,canada,s'pore to name a few) in order to brain gain, but as of now even that has not happened...
if anyone has more info pls provide.
