secure attachment style. The child’s behavior,
especially toward the parent upon reunion, is
indicative of the quality of the overall parentchild
attachment. Children who are distressed
when the mother leaves and happy at her return
are showing secure attachment.
Answer A is incorrect. Children with anxious
attachment are extremely depressed when their
mother departs. The child will be ambivalent
when she returns, seeking to remain close to
the mother but resentful, and resistant when
the mother initiates attention.
Answer B is incorrect. Attachment disorder occurs
