confusing ck scores??????

got my ck results
3 digit score was 250
but 2 digit score was only 85
how is that possible
is it still a good/competitive score?
really confused
please help

Its a very good score

what matters is ,your score should be above the national average and yours is 1 SD above the average .

your score in 1 SD above the american med students ,which gives u an edge

2 digit is obsolete now ,it has no value ,forget about it

Its 99 according to old scoring system

All matters is the 3 digit score .

How long did it take to prepare? because everybody knows they changed the 2 digit score like 6 months ago. Don't worry your score is superb.

Same here. I got a 249/85. It says that the average Step 2 CK score is 237. Is that how it has always been or is that new since this recent test change in august?

Seems to me like 250 isn't that competitive anymore (for competitive specialties like Ortho, Derm, RadOnc, ENT). Any insight would help.

well in my opinion kaplan study material and uworld are more than sufficient.
first go through the kaplan review material once or twice & then you should do u world questions.
i would suggest that you should do uworlds question in a mixed, random & timed manner.

well that's what i think.
249 or 250 is a good score but a 2 digit score of 85 means that it is not competitive anymore.
that's why i started this thread to know what can we expect from this score.

Take a minute, and use the search bar and look for the 2 digit change. The 2 digit score is no longer used, who knows why they left it, and program directors will not see it. If you read your score report, you will find the SD for the USMLE step 2 CK, you do the calculations, and the analysis.

I did UWorld twice and used UpToDate.com (through my school's library) as a reference to review topics I didn't know well.

If you are not scoring as high as you want, the answer is NOT to get better resources, the answer is to become a better test taker. Do this by doing more questions. Reading textbooks is overrated and low yield. Most of what we read we forget anyway.

Draw pictures, use mnemonics, and create "memory palaces" for the mundane, forgettable stuff. Then just keep doing a ton of questions, and do them with a strict time limit of 50 min per set of 44 questions (it's challenging but that will prepare you for the long vignettes on the test).
