Sonu.Agarwall CK Experience 261

Hi folks....Thanks to God Almighty for guiding me through tough times. I will just jot down what i feel is important now that I got my result....Thank you all members for helping me throughout my preparation and Good luck with your exam.

Time of Preparation :
4 months (started long back but had to discontinue due to personal reasons) had book with me every minute whether I read it or not. Kind of motivates you. so concentrated study amounts to 6-8hours/day.

Sources:
1) KLN (single read saw videos only for IM--not very helpful but I could not dare to directly start UW without a beginning)
2) UW is indispensable. Did first time for 2months without doing anything else. So I have to say UW was my main source. I read the explanations for each block for at least 6 hours. But thats just me. I am lazy.Happy-2 I know I did UW really slow and given a chance I would have done it in around 40 days.
I then did my marked and wrong questions in the last month.
3) MTB-2 (IM), MTB-3 (surgery psych obs/gyn pediatrics): read these only in the last 10 days. Didn't have time I was in a hurry to give my exam (again due to personal reasons more than the score delay). But I recommend you guys give at least 2 readings of both books FULL.

UW:79% 1st time (random,timed)
NBME 1: 256
NBME 2: 240
NBME 3: 247
NBME 4: 248
UWSA: 262

After every test I felt like crap. But the result was always good. Just give the exam and leave the rest to God.

Exam:
Had rumors flying all across saying the August takers had a horrible experience. But I dint want to postpone.Fell sick during the exam.It tests your strength and I was just not strong enough. It happens to 99% of exam takers.I am sure. Was in a daze ever since.Spent days crying about it.But it turns out to be great. So chill guys its common to feel that way after every exam. All my friends who had similar feeling had great scores.Nothing to change.Just read the usual stuff everyone suggests.

UWSA predicted my score better. MTB and UW are the key.Exam is just like UW. But you cant expect same questions to repeat. Its just similar.

Length:
10% very very long, abstract was horrible, drug ads were both doable and difficult, 20% very short questions, others UW length.

Time:
I never managed to complete practice tests on time but surprisingly had some time during exam. Probably because I was mentally ready for that. I just marked whatever I felt after the first read. Didn't go back to look at it again. Just had time to review marked questions in a couple of blocks. Others were touch and go. No time for marked ones as well.

NOTE:
You need to carry some Ibuprofen tablets along with your food.

Any other questions are welcome.

Congrats on your score:)

Should we read Kaplan notes. Will it affect if we skip that and read only MTB and UW?

sonu.agarwall 09-29-2012 05:49 AM

i dont think kln is useful...but nevertheless it builds a strong base.i strongly recommend u give a quick read skipping the videos.may be it helped me without my knowledge .:)

hello Sonu thanks for the post, loved t. i just want to know about the questions , have they really changed since august??or should i be confident with mtb and UW??and is mtb3 important ot mtb 2 will do???

phoenix510 09-30-2012 04:18 PM

I know this may seem silly to some, but where is the best place to obtain Kaplan Lecture Notes for step 2 ck? Do you guys buy them off the sellers on amazon or are they usually shared and easily obtainable? Thanks in advance. Congratulations on your great score, btw!

sonu.agarwall 10-01-2012 11:17 AM

i dont think i know how the questions were before august...but its the same..its always vague be it nbme or uwsa or the final exam...i found everything equally difficult

ts1234 10-01-2012 07:19 PM

Goodluck and thanks

hey

congrats thats great great score ...:) do you suggest kln q bank am confused:confused:

sonu.agarwall 10-03-2012 10:46 AM

i dint have time to do it......if u have time u should go for it

step_enhancer 10-03-2012 10:54 AM

They ask topics which are not in uworld ,how to prepare for them .
what i mean is uworld doesnt cover everything ,though its very good .
Any thoughts

sonu.agarwall 10-03-2012 05:16 PM

as i told you it all depends on our presence of mind.nbme n uwsa also have questions which are not covered in uw.every exam tests how you can rule out others n make the right choice.

stfidel 10-15-2012 12:18 PM

PLease share how you felt overall and what did you see and such, like sonu or step enhancer.

Also it is obvious and i can safely say pretty normal to have some shitty blocks and feel like crap after the exam

hi xpaezx..
actually after first 2 blocks,i felt that how easy those things were going..but 3rd block had many tough questions, probably i marked 18 questions..then afterwards all block went good, but not so as first two blocks..then came the last block..went as bad as 3rd one...

Even my last 2 blocks were very bad ,it was like beyond human limits to keep thinking till that time .I hope Sonu bro can tell something about it ..

I really dont know how is it in step 2, but in step 1 i had the same feeling and ended with a good score, so dont worry, unless you are a machine it is impossible to have all blocks perfect and stuff, also we have to remember that we dont know how the hell NBME grades this exams.. so all that can be done is wait.
