Default i would not

i think it's better to take the exams in order. It was really easy for me to diagnose diseases when preparing for the step 2 from previous step 1 knowledge. all I had to "add" to this knowledge was management.

I had 5-6 questions on immunodeficiencies, 3-4 questions on glycogen storage diseases, few down syndrome, patau edward type of questions, questions on rotor, cirgler najar. Every question about biostatistics in step 2 can be answered if you studied for it in step 1. In my opinion doing step 1 before ck helps alot for it. I would say 40% of it is step 1 again.

There is not doubt that one should take step1 first. Basis of medicine is tested in each and every exam especially in recent years. Step 2CK and even step 3 in my case and many of my friends cases had questions answers to which you find on step 1 books! I cannot imagine taking step 2 before step1, i would probably have failed CK!
So here my friend take a deep breath and study for step1!
All the best!

Yeah ive just started my step 2 prep and did step 1 three weeks ago. I gotta say its undoubtedly much more straightforward doing it this way round - step 2 really does seem to built on the material from step 1...most of the hardest questions IMO are ones that directly test step 1 stuff. As an example, first aid for CK is like half the size of that of step 1 and a lot of step 1 topics are just condensed into small tables.

A lot of people argue that as a post-grad if youve got some clinical experience it makes more sense to do the more clinically oriented exam first...but i think this is wrong - you wont forget what youve learned from clinical experience, but you will most likely have forgotten your basic science, which is definitely still needed to a certain extent in step 2ck.
