Hello guys. Today a lot of you are waiting for step 2 CK results. Please, don't forget to post your scores and correlations hear. Thank you!

sg21287 09-24-2014 08:29 AM

So I prepped for CK with 1 month of studying after finishing 3rd year rotations. I used First Aid and USMLE World.

UWorld: 83% tutor mode (2nd pass)

UWSA1: 253 (4 days out)
Real Score: 251

I chose not to take any NBME exams this time as they under predicted my step 1 and kind of freaked me out right before the test.

salamo 09-24-2014 09:25 AM

Step 1 score 255
I prepared for CK in less than 2 months
I studied Uworld mixed timed. overall correct 75%
(1 month out) NBME 4 229 after finishing 35% of Uworld
(2 weeks out) NBME 7 229 after finishing 80% of Uworld
(3 days out) UWSA 254
Step 2 CK score 259

NBME 7 is biased and underestimating
I used this thread a lot to reassure my self

Good luck every body :)

ck 269

Prep time : 3 months

Background : average IMG student from an average community medical school;
( Not among the top 100 colleges in India)

Materials? Books? Kaplan lecture notes ? Did not use any of them

I ONLY DID QUESTIONS.. I FOLLOWED THE ADVICE OF Phloston(SDN), maryjane87, Dr.Pollux (Jason Chang), Obecalp and i recommend the same, please do questions alone for ck,, ck is more of an analytical exam.. please throw Harrisons, CMDT ,Cecil..they are not needed for this exam, only will waste your time

(its just like a marathon training, where you have to build endurance..just like running,, do questions)

1st month : did IM questions from medscape board review, MKSAP for students 5, MKSAP 15- average ~mid 60s
(i dont recommend MKSAP 15- not for USMLE, its for ABIM)

2nd month: I did Kaplan qbank (average~75%) and read MTB2 and MTB3
contrary to want others say, i always liked Kaplan qbank, even for step1. It prepares you for all those WTF questions. And i felt it easier than MKSAP 15 (obviously)

i highly recommend Kaplan for their simulation tests (9 hrs exam)
SIM1 -mid 70s
SIM2-81%
diagnostic test- 83%

last month : i did UW random, tutor, untimed.. i did all the qbanks in untimed, tutor mode, becasue i just want to learn from them, and not test myself.

I felt UW was relatively easy after doing Kaplan and MKSAP.. average ~mid 80s, completed it in 20 days,a must do ,since every usmle exam taker does UW.

before the exam i did UW incorrects and marked, read MTBs for the second time quickly, and read secrets one day before the exam..

I did not take NBMEs ,because i did not want an assessment to tell me whether i can take the exam. I just wanted to get done. a low score in nbme would have only made me more anxious

UWSA one week before : 265
Fred 150 (ONE DAY POST EXAM) : 93% :)):))

That's all folks, if an average medical student from an average medical school can do it, anyone can. Just have to prepare efficiently and use the correct resources.

DO's: do many questions, please dont do UW more than 2-3 times, surely wont help you. try different questions, keep UW at the end.
Uworld>Kaplan>Usmle rx = usmle consult

DONT's:1) dont waste time doing UW 3 times, 4 times ,5 times
dont waste time reading text books for ck,
2)use only one good review book(MTBs) or FA for CK
3)take the test soon, plan your preparation

Kras 09-27-2014 09:42 AM

Great score! Please say how long ago did you get step 1 and what was your score?

AbdAllah Gad 09-27-2014 03:39 PM

Finally I'm writing on this thread,
uworld 1st time unused random timed : 66%
Uworld 2nd time average: 92%

Uwsa: 242 (1week out)

Real deal: 252 thank God alhamdolellah :)
Uworld is the key guys! I recommend you do it online for 3 month not offline.

Hi everyone ,
I am in a pickle here. I took CS n CK n have not taken step 1 yet! Can anyone who took the exam on saturday tell me whether they got their result by third wednesday?
I tried scheduling my exam sooner but there is no date avalaible until 10/18 ( sat), i really need the score latest by 11/5( wed).... I know they say if u take the exam between wed to fri it comes on the third wednesday n if u take on monday/tuesdayt comes on the fourth wednesday... There is no accurate data/ post about exam takers on saturdays...
Please someone who has taken either step 1 or CK on a Saturday please give me accurate info.. Im going crazy here.. Thanks a lot

dr88 10-02-2014 06:37 PM

CK score: 239

Time to study: two months, about 4 hours/day. Last two weeks about 7 hrs/day.

Materials used: MTB 2 + 3 and Uworld. I think these are sufficient. I was religious abt uworld explanations and nbmes were all with extended feedback and I went over every question especially the ones I missed.

Took these in this order:
NBME 7: 370/210
NBME 6: 470/231
NBME 4: 420/221

After nbme score dropped, then took
UWSA: 236.
UWqbank average first time: 60%. I did it about two-three times. overall avg at the end was 75%.

UWSA is a better predictor for Ck than nbmes, IMO.

I graduated in 2013 so I didn't need too much prep. I can understand for old graduates or people who have been away from clinical sciences, it'd be more difficult.

Need Advice!

Hi friends. I just took uwsa :236!
I have about 40 days to my Big day!!! Any advice?
I have studied MTB (3times), FA 2 times and did uwqbank twice ( first: 66%)!
My goal is 240+ but I am a little confused and need some advice to improve my score!

Hi! I took UWSA 3 wks ago - 236, and my CS is this Saturday. So, you will know the approximate correlation before your exam, I hope:)

Couldn't pass NBME, but passed 2 CK!

USMLE World: about 95% through, subject based, timed high 60's average

NBME 7: 290 --> 193 for CK correlation (before studying)
NBME 6: 310 --> 198 for CK correlation (3 weeks prior to exam)
NBME 4: 300 --> 196 for CK correlation (10 days prior to exam)

Free 150: 79% (2 days prior to exam)

Step 2CK Score: 237 Happy-2 Happy-2 Happy-2

***For some dumb reason, I could not pass a stupid NBME to save my life, but I did great on the real deal - my advice, don't take any NBMEs they are only discouraging. Take the free 150 and if you score above a 70%, go ahead with the exam. At least that is what worked for me. Happy-2 Happy-2

253 story

The moment of writing this post is probably one of the most enjoyable :)

Started preparing in September 2013, thought to do all the prep in 4 months, cause I had a booked travel to the US for March 2014 with a scheduled CS exam, and was supposed to prepare in Jan-Feb for it.

In November 2013 tryed NBME 4, got 250 (185), and understood, that it's not a good idea to take the exam in two months, and paused my preparation.

In May 2014, actually, the main part of the preparation began:
End of July - 1st time UW, timed, by subject - 70%
September 14 - UWSA1 - 236
October 15 - NBME 7 - 480 (233)
by October 20 I have finished UW for the 2nd time - 86%.
October 29 - free 150 - 89%

November 1 - 253 Happy-2

In my opinion, the latest NBME is always the best one. The only thing you need to discover is the correlation. If you walk carefully through this thread, you'll find, that NBME 7 underestimated the real score by 10-30 points, with my case not being an exception.

Good luck to everyone, and don't forget to post your correlation after you pass - it helps a lot!

Thanks God, and glory to Ukraine!

Helpful post.

Step 2 CK 258

Time taken - 8 months. Test date.....Nov. 3rd 2014
Resources.....MTB 2&3 + USMLE World qbank. The UWQB is key. I spent far too much time on MTB. I think you should spend over twice as much time on UWQB than on MTB.
NMBE 2....221 (at the start of prep)
NMBE 4....235 (3 months from test)
UWSA .....262 (three weeks from test.....THE BEST PREDICTOR)
Free questions 84% (two weeks from test)
Step 1....245
Step 2....258
I personally think NMBEs are not predictive unless you get over 250. When you're that good anything is predictive. Do UWSA close to your exam and trust the result. My exam was really weird and difficult. I was expecting around 230 to be honest and was kind of depressed during three week wait for the results. Just trust your prep and study hard guys. Good luck.

Finally got my CK score yesterday after those Christmas delays: 253, took the exam on Dec 17

Prep time total: 7 months, but I have two ICU jobs, one full-time and one part-time:))

For preparation I used KLN - all parts, then Kaplan Q-bank just to roughly assess my performance, overall correct 67%
MTB 2 - whole book, MTB 3 - several chapters.
After that I subscribed UW for 1 month before the exam, finished only 50-60% with overall correct 76%.
Free 150 - 91% correct 3 days before the exam.

Exam itself: here I join common opinion, it's harder than step 1. Almost ran out of time in block 1 and in remaining blocks had 5-10 minutes maximum to spare.
Yes, questions are vague and lengthy. Of all the prep resources UW questions look more or less like real exam, but still real questions don't have exact similarity to anything. I felt uncertain about many questions. BUT don't let this feeling distract you, just keep going! It's doable:)

IMGdoc26 01-19-2015 09:44 PM

Got 230... this was my second attempt so i'm thankful i cleared it

NMBE 6: 221 (2 months)
NBME 7: 223 (1 month)
UWSA: 248 (2 weeks)
Free 150: 88% (2 days)

I restarted studying in August along with one month elective during November fulltime along with alot of family issues and baby sitting my nieces at home.

point blank UW is the only source this time i used.. no KLN or MTB. I annotated everything in UW word by word but i could only manage it once properly.

1. I wish i had slept more the day before... i was crying and struggling for time and sleep during my exam.. definitely a marathon

2. I wish i had done UW once more to raise my percentage and to stick facts better.

3. I don't regret not doing MTB or KLN this time.. i would suggest going through your notes and UW again and also revise NBMEs.

4. Avoid all sorts of distractions. this should definitely be your only priority.

Good luck everyone!

USMLE Step 2 CK Score: 249

I had been obsessed with this thread and the general idea that my assessments will magically predict my score. They DO NOT for everyone.

UWSA supposedly the most accurate predictor for CK under predicted mine by more than 10 points.

Bottom-line - Trust your preparation. Give the assessments to get a feel of the exam and search for ways to improve your test-taking skills. You will improve and can do so with each passing day. Good Luck. :)

Dr_Swagg 02-18-2015 07:16 AM

UWORLD 1 time random-timed: 67% average

NBME 6 about 2 months out when I was done 30% of UWORLD just for the hell of it - 208

NBME 4 1 week out - 246
UWSA 4 days out - 244

I made some pretty dumb mistakes. I have always been a great test taker but I don't know what it is about these board exam questions.

Real Score - 235

My exam I felt was ridiculously hard. Psych has always been easy as pie for me (like I'm sure for everyone), but they were arguably the toughest questions on my exam. I have never seen the cases they presented with before, completely stumped me.

Hardest part about the exam was definately the time, I had to rush the last few questions on at least 3 blocks and might have only had time to review my block answers twice.

One big key is that they will use 'different words', for example instead of uveitis they will use iritis which is a type of anterior uveitis. Or stereotactic biopsy of the breast, never in all my study prep did I come across that word (I used MTB+some Secrets+UWORLD). Don't let it stump you, if it looks likely to be it even though the word isn't exactly what you recognize, its probably it.

Anyways I feel terrible, did not expect such a low score at all. I know my knowledge is 250+ level (always been a straight A student and stuff), I am just not good at these tests.

Very happy

Hi guys, I received my score today, this is a totally unexpected score and I can't still believe that....I was sure I failed because I didn't feel enough ready to take the exam. My elegibility period (that I had already extended) was going to expire, I also work in a residency program in my country..so I couldn't study full time and my preparation was discontinuous for a lot of different reasons---btw I followed my istinct and took the only possible choice: go for the exam!
My only advice:Trust your nbme/uwsa scores and first of all trust yourself and everything will go right!!!
the exam is totally doable! Questions were strangely shorter than I expected and I was able to review the marked questions in most of the blocks. Psichiatry questions were more lenghty and confused maybe...

Good bye Summer fun :(

dont relaly know what to make of these scores
nbme 6 ------5 weeks ago 210 online---only 38 wrong...online
nbme 7 ----4 wks ago 198 ???? idk how many i got wrong ...online
nbme 4 ---2 wks ago 223---only 35 wrong..online
nbme 3--- 200??? only got 36 wrong.....took it online went over a copy that i had with the answers i put in

The nbmes dont make sense to me how do i miss only 36 and get 200? Im worried because I have my exam next week. What to do any advice? Taking UWSA this weekend.....to be the deciding factor.

Thank you!

cancer28 07-02-2015 10:08 AM

Nithing much to advice rite now
M very down rite now
Couldn't even revise now
But ideally u should see weak areas in d analysis given at end of nbme and work on dat, and moreover try to be calm because I realised that I made 7 10 mistakes because of anxiety

So in my opinion do whatever is left and work on ur weak areas
Don't overdo what u already know
This is my personal advice
Rest pray to ur God and good luck
Keep me posted ur result and wish me luck for tuesday

jonsnow2015 07-04-2015 06:05 PM

step 2 ck nbme 4

I need advice!! Does anyone know anyone that passed Step 2 CK with a NBME 4 score of 214. I have my exam in 5 days. Should I postpone it!!

cancer28 07-04-2015 07:35 PM

Do uwsa and if u score more than 225 , then go for it
Keep a hold on your nerve and be calm
This is what I did
I have mine on 7 th July
Will post hws mine
Good luck

Being done is a big deal you should feel proud. What were your practice exam scores going in? Hope to hear some good news from you in a few weeks.

cancer28 07-07-2015 07:42 PM

I did nbme 3 on May 5 and got 189(only prepared medicine that time)
Then on 15th may I gave uwsa and got 234
On 25 May I gave nbme 4 and got 225
On 25 Th June gave nbme 7 and got 242
Here's d turning point which is freakin me out, gave nbme 6 on 28 th June and got 225 ( I don't know where I fall on this, but after this I couldn't studied till my exam ) this is what making me cold feet and moreover in step 1 I got 247 inspite of the fact that I got 234 in nbme 7 , 4 days before exams, this is what making me somewhat comfortable .
Now I can only pray and wait .
Thanks

Step 2 in a week, please help!!

Hello,
I'm a foreign medical graduate (YOG 2015). I want to hear the opinion of those who recently sat for the exam with regards to an estimation of how they scored in relation to their self-assessments. I'm sitting for the exam in 10 days.

These are my scores
Step 1: 255 (4 months ago)
UWorld Online: Mostly Random mixed: 78% (86th Percentile)
UWSA (12 days before exam): 260
NBME 4 Online (14 days before exam): 256
NBME 6 Online (10 days before exam): 260
I did NBMEs 2 and 3 offline and had 15 & 18 mistakes respectively.
Free 150: 90%

Any guidance on what to do in my last week and what's the range of score I'm probably going to get on the real deal would be great. I know no one person/assessment can predict the score but a rough estimate from those who sat the exam and had similar scores would be amazing. Thanks.

jpsa123 08-19-2015 08:42 PM

Don't know what to do:
I have done UW 94% of it with an average score of 73% first pass
NBME 4: 219 (3 months out)
NBME 6: 208 (2 months out) -very distracted-
UWSA: 245 (1 week out)
NBME 7: 223 (today-6 days out)
At this point I don't know if I should postpone the exam or take it. These numbers are all over the place.

Any advice?

cancer28 08-21-2015 11:08 AM

Work on ur weak areas and don't postpone ur exam

Taking Step 2 CK tomorrow

I've used this forum a lot during my preparation for Step 2, and now my time has arrived to take the test.

Here are my numbers:
- Step 1 = 242
- Kaplan Qbank= 68% avg. One time/Random/44qs blocks
- UWorld = 80% avg. One time/Random/44qs blocks
- NBME Form 6 (Online) = 570/252 [19qs wrong]
- UWSA = 700/256 [77%,77%,86%,86%]
- NBME Form 4 (Online) = 650/269 [12qs wrong]
- Free 150 = 129qs correct out of 141qs (91%)

Decided not to take Form 7 online because I saw that many people were getting low scores an that was making them nervous (that's the last thing I need right now), so I hope that those NBME/UWSA numbers are predictive for me.

Wish me luck, I'll let you know what happens in the end..

Well, just got out from the test. To me, it was substantially harder than all NBMEs, UWSA, QBanks. I feel happy that I'm done with it, but don't know really what to expect.

Yo!

Rx Qbank (not random, subject based): 73%
UWorld Qbank (random, timed blocks): 76%
Kaplan Qbank (random timed blocks): 70%

NBME 6: 240
NBME 7: 242
UWSA: 245
Kaplan Diagnositic: 87%
Kaplan Sim 1: 69%
Kaplan Sim 2: 79%

Step 1: 245
Step 2 CK: 260 (Happy-2shocked and super stoked)

Also wanted to include my Shelf scores because I obsessed over this forum and always wished people would post them along with everything else (there is a rule of 3s... average shelf x 3 = Step 2 CK that I was always curious about):
IM: 84, Family Med: 96, Psych: 83, OB: 78, Surgery: 88, Peds: ?? (not done yet)

A couple of things:
-The more questions the better I reckon. Someone on this forum (or maybe a blog) mentioned that if you can see a question from as many different angles as possible it would work in your favor in the end. I agree with this.
- UWorld is identical to the exam (as mentioned many times). Read every word of the explanations.
- Do Kaplan before UWorld (I liked it for Step 1, but I agree that it is not as good for Step 2).
- Trust yourself and take the damn thing (don't postpone 4 times like I did). I have no idea how I got this score, I read the thing 5 times and made sure I wasn't hallucinating. If I can do it, you can do it. You is smart, and clearly you're neurotic since you're here, so believe in yourself and take it.

hasan33 09-17-2015 10:44 AM

I took it on 07/30/15.

UWSA: 236
NBME 4: 235

As I understand it, you should expect your results to arrive in the 4th Wednesday after your exam. So if you took your exam today you should be receiving your results sometime around October 21st.

Is it same with everyone that we feeel test very extra difficult and in my case only 20% was from books and uworld

Don't worry I felt horrible leaving the exam center. I had no idea how well/bad I did, I just trusted my instincts on multiple Q's every block and moved on. Trust your preparation and average out your assessments you'll score +-7 points on the real thing.

Best of luck.

587449 09-30-2015 06:12 AM

Got my score today, 247. Good score but all my assesments overpredicted my performance. Best of luck to all.

The mean in the exam is from June 2014 to July 2015, I took the exam on September so I dont fit into that category, I'm sure the next mean is gonna be lower.

xako7777 09-30-2015 03:39 PM

Step 1 score- 237, December 2014, CS- pass first attempt, June 2015

CK- 258, September 8th, 2015
UWSA- 258, NBME 7- 229, NBME 4- 254

Hey guys I would like to share my experience,

I start preparing for CK at the end of January 2015, after I got my step 1 score, I immediately purchased Uworld subscription for 1 year.
Internal medicine- I used step up to medicine, and was doing USMLE world questions alongside in study mode, not timed.. I was taking notes as I was doing questions
I used kaplan lecture notes for everything else
I got MTB 2 and 3, but to be honest I didn't find it very useful, except for the MTB2 page XVII Authors note- YOUR FINAL STEP, I find this page very encouraging and motivational (I'm 100% serious)
after I finished uworld then I did all wrong questions and then reseted. first time usmle world was 78%, second time 90%, I couldn't finish all questions on second time (500 q left i think)
I also read first aid for CK, and actually find it kind of helpful, I read this after I finished Kaplans, this allowed me to review everything all together in a short period of time, do not spend too much time reading it, just read once.
most helpful was reviewing usmle world notes and doing questions second times. second times I did timed, random mode.
study time- average 6 hours a day during week days, and from morning till night on weekends. I have a full time job.
UWSA 258, July 4th
NBME 7- 229 August 8th, I freaked out!!!!!!!!! lost my sleep and was studying even harder, this NBME is weird one, used it if you are too relaxed and feel like you need a kick to study harder. I was shocked and depressed after I got the score, I had 40 questions wrong.
NBME4- August 24- 254

on the test day- I had 42, 6 blocks 44, and last block 36. I had 1 drug add that had 3 questions, and it was super long, kind of freaked me out. other questions were similar to UWORLD, few questions they were asking I have never heard of, I took the best guess and moved on. most of the questions were average length, some of them were super straight forward, some of them was like WTF is it about, most of them were similar to USMLE world.
my suggestion will be, do questions as you are studying, use usmle world as your main studying material, for step 1 I did questions for 2 months only and now I regret, I think I could have done much better on step 1 if I have started using questions earlier.
exam is doable, If I did it, you can do it too. take lots of dark chocolate and good food, eat good breakfast in the morning and go ahead and do your best!!!!

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!! hope you all match in your top choice residencies, put yourself, your mind, your heart, all of you into it and you will see the joy of victory! do it once and do it right! its a great feeling, I had tears of joy in my eyes when I opened the PDF file this morning... I wish you all of you get these tears when you open your PDF file :)))

Just got mine! I would like to just say thank you to all of you that have kept this thread going. I would always frequent the forums and would run into negativity from others. It was not always accurate and it would freak me out for no reason, but I love this thread! It shows so many people that have had similar, successful stories. It helped me to gain confidence. I am so glad to be adding my information to this list today.

The exam: felt tougher than NBME and tougher than UWORLD. The questions on the real thing were a little longer than in UWORLD, but they were similar in style.

UWSA (1 month before exam): 244
NBME 7 (1 month before exam): 231
NBME 6 (2 weeks before exam): 246
NBME 4 (3 days before exam): 237

Took the real exam 9/17/15
CK real deal: 234 Happy-2

Very pleased and would have been pleased to get a 210 to be honest.

Study materials: MTB 2,3 and I did UWORLD questions well reviewed 3 times. Good luck! All is possible with hard work! Do a bunch of questions and do all the NBME's! They helped with endurance. Tip: try to finish NBME and UWORLD blocks with 10-15 minutes to spare so you don't run out of time on the real thing. This helped me.

All praise to the most high. Good luck brothers and sisters!

Congratulations! All glory and praise be to the Lord. I have been following this thread too. I just received my report today and passed. God did it. Honestly, I wasn't sure what was going to happen based on me leaving the test center shaken. I ran out of time a lot. I was worried but the Lord blessed my effort and sleepless nights with success. I had done UWorld partially (<45% complete) last year. This year, I started afresh and I did the entire Qbank alongside MTB2 and USMLE Steps 2&3 in your pocket books (with occasional references to Kaplan subject-based books, which I never read separately; and I sometimes looked up missing info from the above resources by doing searches from uptodate and epocrates). I annotated both books with UWorld. Also made my own UWorld notes. Took the test one Monday in September so result came on the 4th Wednesday.

Like everyone who recently took the test have admitted, majority of the exam questions were much much longer than UWorld Qs. My NBMEs were way way underpredictive of my score. My score came quite close to my UWSA score of 221 taken 2 days prior to CK. Good luck to everyone yet to take the test.

All glory be unto God.
