Experiences CS pass on 2nd attempt 21st August

To those guys who know me on forum. Yes! I have failed it last year! And I failed it in CIS( patient interaction) . I took the exam in Philly center. However, Passed the exam in Chicago center this year!

My reasons for failure:
1- Poor eye contact
2- Too much involved in writing on the paper sheet even when the patient was talking to me.
3- Asking too many irrelevant questions
4- only doing FA cases

Why I passed this time:
1- I took online course by Dr Puma. He told me how to pass CIS. It helped alot. CIS was not an issue for me anymore.
2- Had great study partners.
3- Did a lot of cases on seniors(ppl who have already taken CS exam). They told me new cases and taught me new tips and tricks to improve my CS performance. I revised each and every case so many times.
4- Many people fail in Patient Notes.Obviously I was worried about that. I was living in a hostel in US where many Pakistani doctors were living. So I seeked their help. I wrote more than 200+ PN approximately before appearing in the real exam.
5- My result= One star touching the borderline in ICE, CIS and SEP way above the Borderline.
6- Total study time= 2 months.

My advice especially for IMGS,
1- Forget about problems Spoken english. You will not fail in that, if you Cram each and every questions in FA, UWORLD etc. Recommend Making your own notes
2- Learn how to approach a patient. For cough/ respo patient my mnemonic was,
FHEENT(facial pain,headache,eye, ear, nost discharge, throat pain/swellings) , SAWSCOPER(sweating, anxiety, wheezing, SOB, Cough, OCP,Palpitation, Edema, Exposure,Recent Infection)+ Abdominal Pain,
3- Minimize Physical exam but Do not rush it. Do relevant exam but give command before starting every exam. E.g I would like to examine your hands for any abnormality, is that okay with?!) . End every exam with a smile and a THANK YOU or tell him about the positive finding if you find one.
4- For all those Shy people like me, Look the SP in the eye as long as they are talking to you. There is one hot girl in the exam. Dont get intimidated!
5- Dont use Paper and Clipboard as an escape mechanism. Ask three to six questions. Remember what he or she is saying. And then write the info on the Sheet of paper.
6- Sexual orientation of a person may surprize u in only ONE case. But This doesnt mean that you start asking orientation from each and every patient.
7- If you have not taken CK, then i would suggest that you work on developing DD list. FA can help you with that. I had already taken CK, so DDx was not a problem for me.
8- Read the information on the door very carefully. They has some clues to the case. In some cases, you would hv to tell him or her about the information on the doorway.

On exam day:ws Feeling very confident. Handled almost everything. Had trouble writing Patient notes of 2 patients. But Everything went really well.

For all those who failed:

This is not the end of the world. CS is a BS exam. I know it, you know it, and THEY know it.SPs are actors. And you need to become a better actor, if you want to pass this exam especially the CIS portion. If they tell u that their parents died, you have to say , "I am sorry to hear that" and give a small pause before asking a new question. Nobody feels like smiling on the exam day but you have to learn smile at set points during the PE. Eg. a friend of mine used this techinque. " I am gona ask you about ur past medical health. is that okay with you(SMILE)." He smiled after every " Is that OKAY with you".
