A recent testimonial from an IMG that attended our workshop

"Gold CS review has been phenomenal in shaping my approach towards the CS exam and eventually in clearing it. I took the course about 3 weeks before my exam and I could properly assess my shortcomings and improve on the weaker areas. The course is intensive and prepares you for all the components of the exam in a rigorous manner. The H & P preparation was extensive, precise and highly effective. The feedback I received from the SPs helped me figure out the pitfalls in my preparation and the mistakes to avoid. They were excellent in removing my apprehension of the standard exam expectations, particularly as I'm an IMG. The mock exam at the end of the course is an exact depiction of the real exam and a barometer of the actual exam performance. In a nutshell this is a must do course for those who want to pass and do well on the exam and I highly recommend it. Thank you Gold CS review for everything."

Course was excellent. You are going to learn as never you did before. There are many simulated SPs for practice. Also, practice is test style with feed back from the SPs. They let you know what your weaknesses are and help you to improve your skills. The instructor was also excellent. You have to go prepare to learn a lot.. because it seems as he never got tired. I do not regret this investment. My passing CS Results is what really counted most in the end. I felt very confident during the test after this goldstep2prep review.I truly recommend taking this workshop before taking the CS because it teaches you the correct way to practice and approach each encounter during the actual exam.

The Golduslmereview’s 3 day step 2 CS intensive course prepared me thoroughly for the step 2 CS exam, so well that I never felt nervous about it at all and I performed better than expected. The class was situated very near to the place I live and most importantly there was a team of staffs consisting of professional medical officers who are well-qualified to train for this exam! I would never agree with anyone saying that they don’t need to attend a course for this because it will be very stressful if you do not get the right coaching and I have seen many students failing the test a few times! Save yourself hassle and get this done right the first time!

My CS experience

I wanted to write this to let other CS test takers to know my story.

I started my prep with a big program and was overwhelmed with the instruction. The large class size and prolonged questions from a lot of people during sessions was tiring. The clinical skill instruction was very thorough but excessive and I felt that there was no emphasis on what needs to be done at a bare minimum. At the same time the assessments I felt were not detailed to my liking, such as what each component meant and how it was weighted. I was simply lost.

It cost me a lot of money and I even bought Uworld, which I personally did not find helpful at all. I took my test, which was in Atlanta, and waited for a few months (2 and a half to be exact). My result was a fail on ICE, with good scores on the SEP and CIS. I was devastated.

In desperation, as would anyone else in my situation would do, I looked online. There were many programs, each promoting their successes and anecdotes from other students. I took a chance with GoldUSMLE for my CS for a few reasons. Firstly, the price for what they were offering was attractive for my pocket. I had already spent over $2000 USD on my disastrous prep and was not going to throw money away again. Secondly, it was near my state. Lastly, I liked the small class size.

This is not to say I wasn't motivated to pass my CS on my next attempt, but I wanted to understand where I went wrong the first time. ICE failures are common among AMG's (according to First Aid for the Step 2 CS), and I was an IMG (english is my first language). I also bought the First Aid book and the CS complex cases text. I would complete all the cases and type out each note to have a mental blueprint of how I should think for each encounter. I completed all those cases and went to NYC for the GoldUSMLE review.

I took the 3 day review and learnt physical examination skills that were sufficient for the test and how to actively approach each encounter. Patient's can be intimidating for me, and the CS SP's are no exception. Just because they don't have their role played conditions doesn't change how I should approach them as a confident, knowledgeable physician. My instructor's and SP's gave me feedback that made sense, and I felt confident where I was strong, and worked on my weaknesses. The mock exams were fantastic and had many SP's who were doctors.

I booked my exam just before the end of December, in LA. I got there early and went over the mini-cases over and over again, reading them out loud to myself. This helped to keep me in focus, and awake. I know that anyone who has failed the exam can get bouts of sadness and despondency when it comes to the CS. It is not an easy exam. In fact, it is one of the most complex tests I have taken as it tests many facets during an encounter, and not just English. My exam was better than the first attempt.

I was still nervous and I had many moments where I felt that I failed again, which is something heavy on ones consciousness. I knew that this time the wait would be shorter. I actually started to believe that I should prepare for my CS in the event that failed again. I also scoured the forums looking for mistakes made by other test takers to compare them to my own, which is probably the worst thing anyone can do,but found no comfort in doing so. Then I got an email last week that my result was available.

I passed. I was relieved and was able to move on with my life. My advice for anyone seriously looking to prepare for the CS exam, is to consider GoldUSMLE as their first option in CS prep. It is not about the price, but the quality of instruction and the constructive feedback given by the instructors. I felt the course was amazing, and would recommend it to anyone,

I would like to highly recommend Goldusmlereview

I would like to highly recommend Goldusmlereview. I took the class in Huston. It was great experience that allows me to overcome limitation in order to quickly and efficiently adapt to American way.
Myself I was trained in Europe and US in leading centers, but I find this exam very tricky. For every person, who like me do not have clear idea what is expected during this exam and the way the patients are trained, be careful, you may be on your way to failed it, even you are the best doctor in the world.
Dr. Thomas has great success in helping people around the world to fulfill their dreams and what really what important to me he is doing with deep humanitarian purpose. Let him tell you what this is himself…

Golds USMLE My experience

It all started last year. I received by CS results and bombed it in April. Well, here is my story. I decided to take a prep course for this exam and so glad that I did. I met Dr. Azerrad and Dr. Farooqi who teach the course in New York and loved the course so much that I began to work for Golds as a standardized patient. All in all, the course is a 3-4-5 day course depending on which you do and they teach you the right way on how to perform physical exams. It was superior to the point that when I walked into my exam a few weeks ago I felt confident in my physicals. I received my score report today and I passed after many hours of constant practice.

I have to thank everyone at Gold's USMLE for making this possible and allowing me to apply to the next match. I cannot discuss the cases of the actual Step but what I can say is that the mock exam that is given on the 3rd day of the course prepares you for the exam very well. They teach you how to effectively handle the challenge questions and not perform a physical exam step by step. I am just happy to be finally ECFMG certified and move on to the next chapter of my life. I highly recommend this course to everyone.

Highly Recommend!

Hello all,

I got my results and passed today! Such a nice feeling. I felt I made many mistakes in my exam but somehow got through.

A huge part of the reason I passed was the Gold CS review. The lectures and review materials are great but the most important element is the mock exam. My mock exam in the review course went terrible but it taught me what I was weak in. I had no idea of my weaknesses even though I had been studying and doing LIVE practice with a friend for weeks prior to the class. After finding the weaknesses I discovered during the mock exam I was luckily able to correct them in time for the actual CS test.

My chances of passing CS would have been much lower had I not taken the review class. I would highly recommend it!

My exam was in Los Angeles on March 11.

Best of luck all!

Hey, took the GOld course in New york in march. Took the exam in philly april 21st. PASSES. all high performance.

I would recommend taking this course, especially if you are an IMG. The course prepares you well for the exam.

THe physical exam class by Dr. Farooqi saved me many minutes during the exam. This allowed me to spend that extra time on the interaction part of the test. Dr. Azerrad prepares you well for the interactions. The mock test at GOLD is a pretty good indicator of how well you will do on the exam. The mock test is actually harder than the actual exam. I would also recommend taking the 4th day of the course as it prepares you well for the challenge questions.
This fourth day allowed me to figure out what the challenge question will be in the exam without the patient asking me the question directly. I ended up answering any possible concerns that the patient might have. And when during the closing part of the exam, i asked 'do you have any questions?',..the SPs usually were like, ' no, you answered what i wanted to ask'.

One thing i would recommend gold usmle to change is the history taking lectures. I think a little more time can be spent on that portion of data gathering.

I would recommend you guys to take the class, even if you have good clinical skills. This course made my result waiting period more bearable. I kinda knew what was expected during the exam and what had to be done. Hence there was less stress about the result.

GOODLUCK!

I felt the course was very good. Dr Thomas is outstanding and very impressive. it is amazing how much he can cover over a small amount of time, he also cares alot about his students, buys food and gives them a ride back to the hotel as well, he is a very nice person and human being, i am very happy with the course the course was the best choice I made,

He also allowed me to stay extra hours to work on my physical exam mistakes without him I would have been lost. He helped me so much and dedicates himself to his students
God bless him

hey everyone,

I took Gold USMLE review in Houston, TX and ended up passing with them :) !!!! boy, am I relieved. Dr. Thomas is the best CS professor hands down. he stayed with all the students till late at night going over patient notes. helped us by making us repeat the physical exam drills until we knew it like the back of our hands. thanks to him, i can do the whole history and physical exam like clock work, without even thinking. i can literally just flow with it. Can't thank you enough Dr. Thomas for how much you have done to help me pass my Step 2 cs and make me a better physician as a whole. Once again, a big hearty thanks to you.

Passed CS on the First Attempt with High Performance

USMLE Gold is a great course! I took the 4 day course about a week before my CS and I'm so glad that I did! Since none of you know me on a personal level, I'd like to start off by saying that CS was the exam I dreaded the most because I have severe test and performance anxiety. However, after taking the course I left more prepared and confident to take on the exam.

I'm not going to sugar coat it, this course is intense (and I had anxiety during most of it, especially during the mock exam) but it is structured in an environment where you want to learn everything being taught and you want to be your best at all times. The course is set up so that you will learn everything you need to know and more for the exam - timing, interview, physical exam, challenging questions, patient note, etc. But more so than learning just for CS, you learn things that you can take with you into practice. As a side note, I'd like to say that my exam wasn't "easy" by any means and the cases I had weren't "giveaways" - BUT I wasn't frazzled because I learned from the course how to deal with different cases and situations.

The SP's that we had for our NY course were great - I think it's important to get feedback from a patient's perspective and that's what we get with this course. They give both constructive feedback on improvements that can be made but are also extremely encouraging on what you did well. Since I was dealing with a lot of anxiety, I think having the mock exam helped me immensely, especially with the feedback being given after each case - it allows you to fine tune and improve for the succeeding cases.

The classroom is set up to mimic the actual exam as much as possible, and there is coffee, water, and a microwave there incase you'd like to bring lunch. There may be late nights but believe me when I say it is all worth it in the end.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend USMLE Gold - I actually already have to friends that haven't taken CS. Dr. Thomas and his staff have a wonderful setup which will lead you on the pathway to success as long as you are also willing to put in the work and effort to learn.

Thank you Dr. Thomas - for all that you have done and are doing!

Excellent Course

Hi Everyone,

I passed my exam on second attempt after taking the GoldUsmle course. I did it in Philly too. :p I believe the course made all the difference. Dr. Thomas and his team went out of their way to ensure we learned all the necessary information including how to answer challenging questions. I learned what mistakes I had either committed or omitted on my first attempt. I had to wait almost 3 months for my result but seeing that 'pass' was worth it.
I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to pass this exam.Happy-2

Well, Lets bust some facts first and foremost. There is no way to objectively prove on a forum that one teacher is better than the next. Why should we take your word for it? Most courses out there want to help people, no one is denying that but they want to make a business out of it. In that respect, GOLDUSMLE is more noble when it comes to that cause. Dr. Thomas is a gem, he is strict but shows genuine happiness when you perform well. And for those who have attended the course, you know why he does it. For others bad mouthing him, you will feel very about yoursleves if you do know the reason. I was a past student of the course and I have posted about the course before too. BTW, at my workshop, I along with 2 others were tied for the top student. THere was a vote, and one student was chosen to get the GOLDEN STETH. I saw it being given out. In fact, as the student who came 2nd was so close, he too was given one by Dr. THomas. I did not get one as I was voted third. PLease do not mislead the public. Like me, there are many students here who come to take the USMLE with a lot of hopes and dreams and if you have info or are higher up the road than they have a professional and civic duty to help people out. Kindly, do not misguide anyone. Unless you have taken both the courses you are not the best judge to speak about the negative aspects of one over the other. If you ahve inded genuinely taken the XIMEDUS course, speak about the strengths of that instead of bad mouthing another course. And, your last comment is Downright RACIST! IT is complete BS!! IN my batch, there were students from 8 countries, including 2 from the USA as AMG!! The AMG student in fact won the STETH and 2 students from INDIA tied with him till an open floor vote was held!! And about the note grading, every student gets there NOTES graded till the date of exam. I sent in notes the night before my exam with a note expressing the fact my exam is tmrw and got them graded immediately. So, in a nutshell, DO NOT SPREAD LIES! TRY TO MAKE YOURSELF BETTER THROUGH HARDWORK AND NOT THROUGH CHEAP STUNTS SUCH AS THIS!!! This isnt a POLITICAL FORUM, its a forum filled with DOCTORS and FUTURE DOCTORS, so maintain some decorum...

Gold CS Prep......PASSED CS FIRST ATTEMPT

Greetings,

Hope this finds everyone well. Just wanted to share my experience about Gold CS prep. It is hands down the best CS prep course out there. Dr. Thomas is amazing. For my result, all the credit goes to him as I followed his mnemonics and his guidelines regarding the challenging questions to the letter. He gave me a full hour regarding some exam specific questions after 11 in the night. His dedication towards his students is impeccable and admirable and an encouragement for all of us.

I would also like to clarify some false claims made by one of the members of this group. Gold review course honors the best performer of a particular mock test by giving him/her a gold stethoscope. In fact, one of my best friends and my SP got this stethoscope and we even used it to practice some of the cases.....:))
Also, my 16 PNs were evaluated by Dr. Thomas himself, up till the last day before my exam. He was so thorough that he even picked up a tiny spelling mistake that I had in 1 of my PNs. Also, someone saying that this course is good for a particular group is total nonsense. The class was too intense that I barely got time to scratch my head....:p. Let alone noticing what other people were doing. These are totally false statements and I can say this because I attended the 5 day workshop myself and 5 of my very close friends did too and share the same opinion about the course. Anyways, we went there to study not to compare 1 course to the other. But, if I would compare then Gold CS prep would be simply the best one.

This course is dedicated to our success and is extremely accommodating to students and doctors from all around the world.

Thank you

GOLD is great!

Having trained in GOLDUSMLE CS REVIEW, I can vouch for those guys! They provide a comprehensive training, and Dr. Thomas is an amazing teacher. He knows his stuff and he has the right simulated patients hired who are all from a medical background! All of them give you a valuable one-to-one feedback and this is really helpful. You will come out extremely confident finishing the course and will be ready to ace your exam.

p.s. I did not win the golden stethoscope!:))

Will be glad to answer any questions regarding the course.

GoldUSMLE is great!

I can tell for a fact that GoldUSMLE review is an amazing course which pretty much assures passing the CS exam.

From my experience in NY, the course is rigorous and intense but this is a mean of pushing you to the limit and ultimately prepare you for the test in a short period of time.

Dr. Thomas is prepared beyond belief, he will have an answer for any question you have about the exam and will impart a condensed class that will definitely prepare you well for the test.

The SP's are amazing, knowledgeable and insightful, many of which will get the best out of you. The fact that they give you feedback and make observations upon your performance and demeanor are extremely important to boost your confidence and point out the mistakes you're making.

It is also remarkable that even after you finish the course, you can still send in patient notes to be graded. This is a proof of commitment to help you even beyond the days you spend in the course.

In terms of diversity in the course, in my class there was people from many different countries, including Americans. And I must say that the course was beneficial to all of us, not just a particular group.

I have to thank the GoldUSMLE staff for their work and dedication to excellence and their commitment to see their students succeed. I ow my passing grade and confidence to this course.

I'd be glad to answer any questions regarding this course.

Fantastic Review Course

I attended the 5-day USMLE Gold Review course in Houston shortly before taking my exam, which was walking distance from the testing center. I found the team there to be incredibly professional and dedicated, including the SPs. One especially impressive experience I had there was observing many of the staff staying until the early morning hours to cover everything that needed to be done that night. Overall I came away from this experience having gained a wonderful new mentor (Dr. Thomas), skills that I've carried forward into my career and a high passing CS score.

To the aspiring physicians that are researching a CS review course: I stand firmly behind USMLE Gold Review and welcome any inquires you may have about my experience at their Houston location. I strongly recommend that during this process you avoid programs that expend their resources attacking others rather than improving their own merit. I have observed that USMLE Gold Review maintains a positive message and through doing so cultivates excellence in the academic community.

Good luck with your future endeavors!
