Default Best USMLE Step 2 CS Live Course

Post and Poll Options were last updated on September 4th, 2013.

In this poll we vote for the Live USMLE Step 2 CS Courses.

The courses listed above are useful for Med school students during their med school years as well as graduates who are preparing for the step 2 CS exam. Step 2 CS live courses that do not have websites or those that seem illegitimate are not listed in the poll. If we have missed a live Step 2 CS course, please post about it in the mainstream Step 2 CS Forum and we'll add it to this poll.

You will also notice that we move away or delete replies to this thread. This is because we want the focus on the poll above rather than discussion and comments. You can always check our Step 2 CS Courses Tag for discussions about live courses for the Step 2 CS Exam.

Please do not vote if you haven't used any of the courses above. Artificial inflation of votes by commercial companies will be detected and removed. Votes that are older than 18 months are automatically deleted. Companies that advertise with us do not have any advantage in this poll and we will actually ban companies from advertising with us if we detect artificial inflation of the vote.

Course links are periodically updated to the latest websites.

If you are looking for the best online course please see this poll

Default step2it

Hi all, I got my usmle step 2 cs result today and I passed. I prepared only for 4 weeks and attended step2it course. Step2it course has helped me immensely. Dr Jacob is very good teacher and very good in communication. He took care of everything when I went to stay near the course venue. He picked me from the motel everyday and dropped me at the train station on the last day. He is very flexible. I am working in NHS UK. I have been working here for quite a few years but I still felt that I needed to attend a course to understand the US system and practice.Thank god I did that. I went for step2it course as it was reasonably priced and flexible with dates.

I have been to so many communication skills courses in UK and I have taught medical students but Dr Jacob was a real surprise for me. He is a great teacher.

One of my friend from UK didnt attend any course but he failed. He works in General medicine and has been working in UK for quite a few years. I am in psychiatry, had lost touch with acute specialities but Dr Jacob helped me to sail through this exam.

Personally, I dont think this exam is easy particularly for IMGs.

Does anyone have any feedback about this course? I heard they complete many patient encounters. I have my exam coming up at the end of May.

Hi, I took Kaplan CS course in may, 2015.
The way it is organized: 1st day: lecture and workshop on pt interview (small groups of 4 + SP - gives you a very good perspective of the SP: what to do/not to do, say etc.).
2nd day: workshop on pt physical exam (small groups of 4 + SP + Kaplan MD) and lecture on Pt Note.
3rd day - Pt note workshop, lecture on peds and psych, and 2 pt encounters.
4th or 5th day - mock exam 12 encounters (depending on the group - there were 36 of us divided into 3 groups) and then there was cases discussion/score report.
The course is very, very good.

I gotta vouch for Step2It with Dr. Jacob. Hands down best prep you can get. Very personal and tailored for your needs. Dr. Jacob is also genuinely a good guy. If you want the test day "feel" you might want to do a Kaplan 1-day simulation. However, you'd get more out of Step2It if you had to pick one.

Default Best Step 2 CS live program

I was told by my cousin that had a great step 1 experience with the USMLE success academy to try them out for my CS prep. I can honestly say that this was the best advice ever given to me because I had already failed the exam once by using only first aid and practicing with some of my friends I made during my peds rotation. Their live course in Chicago is simply amazing because I covered well over 50 cases (I don't remember the exact number but it was a lot!). The patient encounters took place in an exam style room and they used the same computer program used on the exam for typing the patient note. The entire time was spent working with an MD because my instructor was acting as the SP and also evaluating my every move. By the end of this course I was over prepared for the actual exam because I had experienced every type of case imaginable during their course. The success academy's CS course is amazing and was worth every penny because I passed my exam!!

Default USMLE Success Academy is Amazing!!

I recently received my passing score on my Step 2 CS exam!! Dr. Paul and Dr. Teed of the USMLE Success Academy were truly amazing!! I was extremely deficient in my physical exams, timing, and my patient note preparation, but through the guidance and training of Dr. Paul and Dr. Teed I was able to turn these areas around during their 5 day program and I was able to take and pass my exam within only 1 week after taking the course. I highly recommend their CS course!!

Smile UsmleStep2it

I just did a 4 day live course with Dr. Jacob. I am an IMG and another Iranian IMG were in this course with me. 1st day was lecture and at the end of the day we practiced one case. 2nd and 3rd day we started around 9:30 in the morning and went upto 8:00 pm at night we practiced a lot of cases. On the 4th day we did mock test and practiced more cases. My SEP is good, no problem with speaking but I was very apprehensive about practicing case in timed environment. Dr. Jacob taught us proper way to do physical exam, proper way to ask questions, counsel the patient and time management in the exam. If I grade myself how prepared I was on day 2 for my CS performance, I will put a score of 3-4/10. But by the beginning of day 4, my performance improved so much and I realized how much I have gained from this course that I will grade my CS performance 8/10. I still have 4 more weeks to prepare for this exam and I can easily take my performance level to 9/10 by doing more practice. Also my Iranian friend also improved tremendously. Dr. Jacob only takes 3-4 students in a batch and he really works with the students weaknesses. I am really glad I took this course.

Default Gold usmle step 2 cs review

GOLD USMLE STEP2 CS REVIEW is the best Step 2 Clinical Skills course hands down !!! It's right next to the real exam testing center which is a big plus !!! Dr. Thomas does a great job on teaching us the concept so we can apply those principles in any given case scenario. He really condenses down everything down to the basics and focuses on repetition and drills for the history and the physical, especially the physicals. By the time I was done with the course, I was doing the whole history and physical along with the patient note by instinct without even thinking about it. Just became a routine and second nature. I can't thank Dr. Thomas and his staff enough for how well they prepared me for this exam !!

Default The Art of USMLE

I had difficulty in studying for my CS exam. I was reading the FA and its a good book but I needed to practice and all my friends already took the exam. I had a friend of mine that referred me to go to Art of USMLE. Within the first hour of class I knew that it was the best choice. Dr. Stavros provided one on one interaction and he provided close interaction making sure he corrects all my weaknesses. By day 5, I was fully prepared to walk into my exam and pass! He covered all the aspects of the exam, the tips to pass and what to do to get the point to pass the exam. You must go there and have him diagnose you, he is such an honest doc and will tell you if you need the course or what exactly you need to pass the exam. Best of luck to all!!

Default USMLE success academy Step 2 CS live course

I recomend the usmle success academy. I passed my exam on first attempt! I choose this course over many others because they have 100 percent passing rate and because they have teachers that have residency training. The course was amazing. I cover many patient encounters on my own, they gave me detail assessment and training, and they help me type faster and improve my patient note. I also had difficult time finishing the encounters in time and they help me learn to finish in time. They are wonderful people and the course is amazing.

Thumbs Up The best ever CS live course

Don't waste your money in other centers.....
I'm an IMG with no medical experience in USA. With patience and case by case, Dr Paul and his colleague corrected all of my mistakes in 5 days and helped me to improve my weaknesses. Thanks to them, I passed my first CS test in Philadelphia 3 weeks after my course. I really believe that without their help I couldn't make it and I highly recommend USMLE SUCCESS ACADEMY to everyone who wants to pass the test in one step.
It really worth it......

Default Passed with USMLE success academy

This is Dr Azeen writing from Oman. I undertook my Step2 CS prep at USMLE success academy during Aug 8-12 batch & took my CS exam on 19th Aug in Philadelphia, PA. I'm pleased to inform that by the grace of almighty God & the favor of Christ Jesus, I'v cleared my CS exam. I got my score report this last wk. I am especially indebted to my instructors who not only taught us the key elements of the exam but also tested us each day of the prep course to stretch our limits, adding valuable confidence and essential test-taking skills for the CS portion of the USMLE exam. Once again, the prep has been well laid out with excellent coaching. I would definitely recommend my junior colleagues planning to take their CS, to get trained under USMLE success academy.

Default USMLE Success Academy is THE BEST

I am an IMG who was struggling to pass the CS exam as it has now been made more difficult. I had failed the ICE component and I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. I was currently entered into The Match and didn't want to take a chance of failing again, so I decided to take a course. One of my friends had used USMLE Success Academy for Step 1 and it came highly recommended because he did well. So, I contacted the Success Academy and made my arrangements to fly to Chicago to take this course.

The course was amazing...seriously. It was very well-constructed as we practiced case after case after case day-in and day-out for five days. Dr. Paul, who is awesome in every way, even stayed after at night to help me practice more cases. The whole team worked with me to make sure that I did all physical exams properly, that I was asking the right questions, and that I was taking a thorough history. They took their time in grading the patient notes (which was my downfall) and gave honest and constructive feedback. By the end of the course, after having corrected my mistakes, I did really well on the mock exam and was given the "go ahead" to take the real exam. I am so grateful to this team for making me better so that I was able to pass on my subsequent attempt.

Yes, the course is expensive, but what's a few additional thousand dollars when you have already invested so much time, energy, and money in your medical education and this will help dramatically to pass your test? Additionally, it is comparable in price to some of the other courses out there. As someone who took this course first-hand, I can tell you that it is completely worth it in every regard. I received my results and not only did I pass the ICE section, but I did very well. I couldn't be happier. Now I can officially match this year without having to sit out an entire year for not having passed this silly test.

Please do yourself a favor and take this course if you are looking to pass your CS on the first try. I promise you will not regret it.

Default Step 2 CS course-I recommend USMLE Success Academy

I just got my Step 2 CS results yesterday and passed. I can attest to having taken the USMLE success Academy course and I strongly recommend it. I was able to pass step 2 CS on the first attempt. I took the course the week before the exam and then tested the following week. I felt that this enabled me to have the confidence and ability to apply with immediate effect everything that I had learnt the week before the exam.

The course is well structured. I did the Basic CS prep course which consists of 4 days of hands on practice of the cases (There is also an option for a course which includes the Mini Mock Exam). Each group is assigned 3 students and we go through as many cases as possible (It is intense!). There is individualized hands on practice, each member of the group gets an opportunity to do cases. This involves doing the timed patient encounter, then after each encounter, typing the timed patient note. Upon completion students are criticized as to relative strengths and weakness and also given feedback on the patient notes. The instructors will ensure that you are doing a relevant physical exam, asking the pertinent questions in the history and also place a strong emphasis on closure. You become efficient at what you do. Feedback will assess your preparedness for the actual CS test and you will not be encouraged to test if you are not ready.

The convenience of the success Academy programs is that they have partnered with a hotel near their location and we students enrolled in the course were able to have transportation on a daily basis to and from the course for the duration of the course. This did cut costs overall and provide convenience and ease during the program. Lodging arrangements are optional. For those living outside of Chicago this reduced a lot of worry as to where to stay.

I highly recommend the USMLE Success Academy. Like everything else if you invest your money and time wisely then you will reap the benefits. I did just that and was able to clear the USMLE step 2 CS exam on 1st attempt with high performance.

Correct Answer Passed My CS Exam At First Attempt After Taking Gold USMLE Review

I just want to share a few hurdles that i cam across during my exam. I was just done with my step 1 and i had my CS already scheduled. I was completely burnt out, sleepless, tired and exhausted to take on a new exam right away. I heard a lot about the Gold Review from the people who took it and from the internet. I thought of giving it a shot. I traveled to New York in a week after my step 1 because i wasn't getting much done at home and i wasn't able to prepare for the exam due to exhaustion. I was grateful for my decision to choose Gold review to be honest. From day one i started to get back to preparing for CS. Dr. Thomas started giving individual attention to each student from day one. He pointed out my weaknesses in ICE and supervised cases to help me get the CIS component right. On my first mock exam i didn't do well. I was embarrassed and I told him i couldn't do it that this exam was not for me. Any other teacher would have told me to do whatever i want with that defeated attitude. I was registered for a 5-day course so that meant one more day of class and one more mock exam. I told him that i should postpone my second mock and take it when i feel prepared. He told me if that is what I think will help me then i should do it but his personal opinion would be that i leave New York feeling good about myself so i don't get demotivated to study at home. He told me to go home and read the feedback the SPs gave me from the first mock. He actually taught me to believe in myself, his criticism was so constructive that it helped me grow not only professionally but also as a person. I felt more confident. I did everything he told me to and took the 2nd mock and ended up at 3rd place in his class. That is the sort of commitment he has towards his students. His devotion to this cause of never letting a student fail at CS can be seen when you take his classes. I took my exam soon after i was done with my review and i passed. I stuck to everything I learnt at Gold Review Course and i just breezed through the exam. I recommend Gold USMLE Review to anyone taking CS after my personal experience. I would suggest not risking the exam thinking you can do it. As you will realize after taking the course how many things there are that you don't know and can be learnt over a period of just 3-days.

Default GOLDUSMLE Review ALL THE WAY!

Hi guys! I would like to share my personal experience with GOLDUSMLE review CS course. I took the 4 day course in NY in the month of June 2016. I had not prepared any thing what so ever prior to that. In fact, my first note was completely wrong. I was thoroughly impressed by the Professionalism of Dr Thomas and all the staff. It was an intense 4 day course but I was confident by the end of it. The days were long, but Dr Thomas explained why he likes it that way. Remember, your exam is long and arduous as well. The History taking styles and templates along with a full practice of all the exams system wise were awesome! I took my exam 2 weeks later in Philly and passed with a HIGH PERFORMANCE.The course is proced keeping in mind the students' and the expenses already incurred due to other USMLE exams, Travel and hotel stay. It is a small price for a huge dividend in terms of your career. I would urge everyone to strongly consider GOLDUSMLE review for all their CS prep. If I had to do it all over I would not change a thing. Dr Thomas is a gem of a person but is equally strict and expects all of us to be focused and it is this discipline which will get you through the exam on your day.

PS: If someone votes in the Poll they must attest a reply as to why they voted so!!

Default Why did I choose GOLDUSMLE for my CS and IV Prep

My first experience with GOLDUSMLE was when I enrolled for the 4 day CS prep Course in NY. I wanted to do a course as I had no one to practice with and was not very confident doing self study or skype practice courses. I had not prepared anything beforehand and went into the course with my CS exam about 18 days away. The 4 days were very intense. We began at 8am sharp and the first two days often went on for 15 hrs. We learnt how to approach various scenarios and also take Histories in limited time. Dr Thomas taught us each system exams and also gave templates for common scenarios requiring multi system exams. The 3rd day included a full Practice exam (which was slightly harder than my Actual exam) yet at the end of it I felt confident after the debriefing session about my performance. I strongly urge anybody who needs some extra practice to consider GOLDUSMLE. Dedicated faculty and staff along with an excellent course material allowed me to achieve a HIGH PERFORMANCE in my CS exam in Philly.

I even enrolled for the Mock interview course with GOLDUSMLE prior to the IV season. It was a one on one session with Dr Thomas and we went over in detail on some common questions and other soft skills that are important. At the end of it I was confident to be able to put forward my views and express myself better during the IV. I was overjoyed to match at my #1 program at UConn.

I will forever, indebted to Dr Thomas and GOLDUSMLE for their dedication and service provided. It is a cost effective and efficient to help out all students with their final stretch towards realizing their dreams of becoming Doctors.

Post USMLE Success Academy

I had a great step 1 experience with the USMLE success academy. In the end of the course I was fully prepared for the actual exam because I had experienced every type of case imaginable during their course.

USMLE Success Academy were truly amazing!!

Default Poll for CS Courses

Is this an even legitimate poll ? Companies can make their own polls allowing anyone to upvote their company to increase their ratings and votes. These votes can be coming from companies themselves and their representatives. Wishing everyone the best on their future CS exams though.

How I passed the USMLE Step 2
CS with CSE Video and got stars

As I went to prepare for the cs I could not find any really good study material or at least nothing that was a direct hit to what the exam was going to be like, I read mixed reviews on every company out there live courses, online, tutors etc. I decided to go with CSE Video for 4 months and my actual exam experience was a mirror reflection of what I watched in CSE Videos. I have been asked by several people what I used so I decided to write this up.
I sat for my cs exam in los Angeles in May and got my results in July 2018
I am 2nd career American student, and I did my med school in the Caribbean, although they give us some classes nothing extensive on the cs exam, I was concerned about my ability to pass on the first attempt.

A little about me, I am retired accountant and wanted to do something different. At my age it was hard to get through med school and all the required studies and exams. But being a single dad and really wanted a different lifestyle in terms of the work I do, I decided to go to a Caribbean medical school and Iím glad I did.

CSE Video with the first aid paid off big time, I passed with stars and while I was taking the exam I was confident despite my minimal history in the medical field. I am writing this post because I think a lot of people struggle with the right material for the cs and I can say based on my score result and my experience you cant go wrong with CSE Video and the first aid, any edition of the fa will work. You welcomed to ask any questions Iím happy to help the 2018 videos are top of line
Good luck
