i need your guidance if possible please do help me. its been 4 months now that i started my step 1 preparation and still i have only completed 4 sbubjects with this speed it would takes months n months before i could actually give exam.

1) i finished anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and half of pharmacology, but pattern of doing them was random like first video then notes and at time vice versa. and i didn't completely annotated kaplan videos in my kaplan notes. so i feel like i know nothing. and still i have to do rest of subjects, micro, immuno, behavioral, genetics molecular biology and patho(goljan).

2) so as my pattern of studying was not straight now i am thinking to revise kaplan videos at 1.5x speed and simultaneously do kaplan medessential for rest of my subjects and instead of doing kaplan lecture notes again for all subjects revise kaplan medessential one more time and for sure i will do q banks...

3) and i am talking about medessential because actually i saw FA and i realized i am not understanding anything but when i saw medessential i found its almost short form of kaplan and one can understand it.

please give honest suggestion can medessential(2009 3 rd edition) would be enough as a comprehensive review book.

Kln+uw+fa

I did not read kaplan medessentials ,so I cannot comment upon it.....but I will say that if step 1 takes time ,let it take time bcoz kaplan r the backbone of step 1.....they r the basics.....they will make ur concepts.....no matter how much time they take, u must do KLN and revise them too......then carry on with UW and FA......and success is urs.......

Best of luck

Agree with @K06100

You can't give Step 1 without KLN, FA amd UW. Take as much time as you need coz there is only one real shot at it. No point getting a low score. If it makes you feel better, I started in Nov last and am still not done with my first read of KLN. Hope to finish in 2-3 days from now. You can see my prep schedule in my threads.

I will also strongly advice you to structure your preparations. Draw up a schedule.
Also please go back and annotate what you haven't. Second time video should not take as long. (1.5x is a good idea)
A word of caution about Medessentials, they are a shortcut & not always up to date. Unless you are a genius, don't rely on them.
If you need a kick, do one of the self assessment offline for now. It will get you going.

Good luck!

thanks

thanks a lot @drssbaz and @K0610 even i realize it, i can't compromise score just to finish it fast but actually kind of i tried doing FA and its structure(not matter) doesn't suits me. Thats why i asked for medessential. now i will be doing kaplan notes complete thanks a lot. but still confused with review book.

FA looks like Greek and Latin unless you have done a review (mostly KLN has been recommended in polls) or some UWorld. Keep trying. You'll figure out what suits you best. :)

I can suggest something that worked for me n it may work for you too. I started with 4 videos a day along with KLN n then again reviewing the, in the evening. Yes step1 is worth all the time u can give but spending too long is bad too because by the time u finish first read, u will forget what u read in the start.so I would suggest to make a schedule n strictly follow it. Good thing is that Biochem n Physio two of the longest ones n also Patho will take time too. Try not to spend too much time on Micro, n Pharma because it's a short term memory stuff n u will need to read them some 4-5 times anyways. Don't spend time in. Watching patho or micro videos, that's waste of time. If you are comfortable with English then u can watch videos at faster speed on a media player on your computer. Good luck
