does low haptoglobin means intravascular hemolysis or just hemolysis ?

if question mentions haptoglobin levels are low, does it just means hemolysis or intravascular hemolysis ?

i remember reading in Goljan that it means intravascular hemolysis but i did question in which it just meant hemolysis

You have to understand the basic concept behind haptoglobin.
Haptoglobin binds free Hb. So, it's only decreased in intra-vascular hemolysis.
In extra-vascular hemolysis, the RBCs are phagocytosed by RE cells. So, there is no release of free Hb into the blood for it to bind haptoglobin.
