What is the mechanism of direct (not indirect) inguinal hernia following an appendectomy?

it's kinda rare complication of appendectomy....

it's caused by damage to ilioinguinal nerve while doing appendectomy(especially mcburney's incision).......ilioinguinal nerve damage leads to subsequent wearing down of abdominal muscles leading to direct inguinal hernia....
but,it's very rare complication......ilioinguinal nerve entrapment occurs most commonly than damage.....
